Youth Pastor Jack Curtis Johnson, age 28, of New Washington, Indiana entered this life on September 24, 1983 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was the loving son of Donald S. & Sylvia Jones Johnson. He was raised in Kittery & South Berwick, Maine. Jack was a 2001 graduate of South Eastern New Hampshire Christian Academy in Somersworth, New Hampshire. He was a 2010 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Theology from Shawnee Baptist College in Louisville, Kentucky. Jack was united in marriage on June 25, 2004 to Rebekah Jo Whitaker at the Shawnee Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. This happy union was blessed with a son, Gunnar Michael and a daughter, Serenity Paige. Jack & Bekah moved to New Washington in 2004 and became members of the New Hope Baptist Church. Jack sang in the choir and taught Sunday school at the church. He also served as the Youth Pastor and hosted the Wednesday Night Delta Force Youth Program. Jack's love for children and for teaching children came from his heart. Jack always had their best interest at heart. Jack was currently employed as the general manager of Servpro in Oldham & Shelby Counties for the past four years. He was an avid sports fan, and was devoted to the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Soxs, and Alabama Crimson Tide. Jack was a beloved husband, loving dad, devoted son & brother. Jack died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. in a car accident near New Washington, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Jack will be missed by his loving wife: Rebekah "Bekah" Jo Whitaker Johnson of New Washington, Indiana; his loving son: Gunnar Michael Johnson of New Washington, Indiana; his loving daughter: Serenity Paige Johnson of New Washington, Indiana; his parents: Donald S. & Sylvia Jones Johnson of South Berwick, Maine; his brothers: Ryan Johnson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Brett Johnson of Crown Point, Indiana, Benjamin Johnson of Berwick, Maine; his maternal grandparents: Gary & Lorraine Jones of Millbrook, Alabama; his father in law & mother in law: James & Teresa Whitaker of Henryville, Indiana; his sisters in law & brothers in law: Jaime Whitaker of Louisville, Kentucky, Jessica & Tim Smith of New Albany, Indiana, James "Bubba" Whitaker of Henryville, Indiana; his grandparents in law: Luther, Jr. & Joann Whitaker of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, Dorothy White of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Betty Armstrong of Cynthiana, Kentucky; several aunts, uncles, cousins & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chester & Elsa Johnson. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. by Pastor Michael LaFountain at New Hope Baptist Church, 5104 South State Road 62 near Chelsea, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service at the New Hope Baptist Church, 5104 South State Road 62 near Chelsea, Indiana.
