Wiletta Carolyn Wehner Stewart Obituary (1922

Mrs. Wiletta Carolyn Wehner Stewart, age 87, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on August 30, 1922, in Jefferson County, Indiana at home the daughter of George William Sr. & Amy Winifred "Freida" Kessler Wehner, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1940, graduate of North Madison High School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Charles Keith Stewart on January 17, 1941 at the Wirt Baptist Church by the Rev. Merris Dice. She was a life long member of the Wirt Baptist Church. She was a member of the La Belle Revere #624 Rebekah Lodge, and participated since 1977 until her health did not permit her to attend. Wiletta enjoyed her life in the country and especially the last years of her life on their farm "The Ole Briarpatch". She was a hard worker, canning, freezing fruits, vegetable, cooking, baking, and embroidery work, sewing too. She was very creative and talented. In mid life she took oil painting classes and enjoyed painting beautiful works of art. She even enjoyed the barn chores on the farm, she saw herself as a country girl. She loved flowers and always had them growing everywhere. She was an accomplished baker, and was known for her lemon and cherry pies. Her family always requested her potato salad and her roast beef and gravy. Her greatest source of pride was her family. She worked for fifteen years for the Conn Organ Company and enjoyed her many friends she worked with. She was a precinct committee worker, registering voters and working the polls during elections. Wiletta died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:10 a.m. with her loving daughter at her side at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Wiletta will be missed by her loving husband of sixty eight years: Charles Keith Stewart of Canaan, Indiana; her loving sons: David Keith Stewart & his fiancee': Wanda McClure of Madison, Indiana; Philip Alan Stewart of Cortez, Colorado,; her loving daughters: Linda Stewart White & her husband: John of Hanover, Indiana, Mary Carolyn Williams of Vernon, Indiana; her loving brother: George William Wehner, Jr. & his wife: JoAnn of Madison, Indiana; her loving sisters: Alda Burke & her husband: Glenn of Madison, Indiana, Winifred Bennett & her husband: Floyd of The Villages, Florida; her grandchildren: Leslie Clark, Charles Stewart, Lora Caudill, Kathy Hagan, Keri Pohle, Derek Williams, Kelli Perkinson, Amy Lovell, Jeremiah Stewart, Thaddaeus Stewart, Calvin-Paul Stewart, Jeffrey White & Laura Ebley; her great grandchildren: Courtney Hammond, Caitlyn Hammond, Allison Caudill, Samantha Caudill, Eleanor Caudill, Isaiah Pohle, Solomon Pohle, Samuel Pohle, Elijah Pohle, Chase Williams, Hunter Williams, Baron Perkinson, Addison Perkinson, Reagan Perkinson, Kamryn Perkinson, Rebecca Covert, Joseph Covert, Chelsea Ebley, Kendall Ebley, Skylee Stewart & Celacia Stewart; several nieces, nephews, cousins & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father: George William, Sr. & Amy Winifred "Freida" Kessler Wehner; her first son: Charles Stewart; her brother: Kenneth W. Wehner Sr.; her brother in law: Robert Smith; and her daughter in law: Kim Stewart. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Troy Hedges at Wirt Baptist Church, 4773 North, 350 West near Wirt, Indiana. Private interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Wirt Baptist Church, 4773 North, 350 West near Wirt, Indiana.
