Vernay Numsen "Vern" Reindollar Ii Obituary (1925

Mr. Vernay Numsen Reindollar, II, age 81, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life, June, 1925, in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Vernay Numsen & Mary Shafer Reindollar, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated high school in LeSuer, Minnesota. He attended Carlton College and University of Minnesota and graduated from the latter in 1948, with a Bachelor of Science. He was inducted into the United States Army in September 1948, and rose to the rank of Corporal, First Class. He served in personnel during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in June 1952. While in the service he directed the Ft. Knox Post Chapel Chorus. He joined the Music Corporation of America in Chicago in July of 1952 and worked extensively in the region as a vocalist and musician.In January 1953, he began a career with the State of Indiana, Department of Mental Health, serving as a personnel examiner and recruitment supervisor in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to Madison in May of 1956 and was employed with the Madison State Hospital as the personnel director. On May 15, 1960, he was united in marriage at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Madison, to Dorothy "Dotti" Brooking Inglis, to this union arrived two sons & two daughters to bless their home. Mr. Reindollar was a very civic, philanthropic and political minded man, that took a serious interest in his community. He had served on the board of the Jefferson County United Fund, as drive chairman of the Jefferson County United Fund, past president of the Madison Civic Music Association, board member of the Community Artist Series, board member & past chairman of the Jefferson County Chapter of the American Red Cross, executive board member & past chairman of the Louisville area Red Cross Blood Center, board member of the Madison Regatta, Inc. and had served as a past president, member of Historic Madison, Inc., Jefferson County Historical Society, Madison Elks Lodge #524, Jefferson County Humane Society, the board of the Eluetherian College, the Jefferson County Mental Health Association, past board member of the Madison Lions Club, past president of the Madison Civic Music Association, past board member of the Indiana Vocational Technical College, past board member of the Madison Country Club, past member of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, member of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, past president of the Ohio River Valley Obedience Training School, which he helped to found with his late wife Dotti, member of the Madison Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Reindollar was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church and was a former member of the church Vestry. He with his late wife had owned Maywood, a 1832, Greek Revival Historic Home, that overlooked the Ohio River Valley and was destroyed by fire in January 2000, also resulting in the death of his beloved wife: Dotti. Mr. Reindollar, loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. He enjoyed singing, and was a noted Tenor. He had been a tenor soloist with the Plymouth Congregational Church, the Hennipin Avenue Methodist church, the director for the Elizabethtown Kentucky Community Chorus, past director for the First Baptist Church Choir, past director for the Madison Community Chorus, had enjoyed directing the Historic Madison Festival of Christmas music. He was instrumental in helping to create the Gate House Museum in September of 2000, often serving as a docent and helping to schedule the staffing. Mr. Reindollar served in the capacity of personnel director at the Madison State Hospital for many years, and was promoted to assistant superintendent of administration. He also on occasion was appointed acting superintendent as well. After 47 years of service to the State of Indiana and the Madison State Hospital, Mr. Reindollar retired on January 13, 2003. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing his piano, gardening, his animals, especially his dogs, devoting time to historic preservation and socializing with his family and friends. Mr. Reindollar died Friday, May 18, 2007 at 4:02 pm at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Mr. Reindollar will be missed by his sons: Vernay Numsen Reindollar, III & his wife: Opal of Orlando, Florida; Benjamin Brooking Reindollar of Madison, Indiana; his daughters: Mary Moffett Inglis Reindollar-Johnson & her husband: Keith of Illinois City, Illinois; Amanda Bingham Reindollar Dunn & her husband: Jim of Charlotte, North Carolina; his grandchildren: Zachary Russell & Ella Brooking Dunn; Dustin Alfred, Benjamin Barry Keith, Madison Eleanor Inglis, & Zane Bridger Brooking Johnson; & Vernay Numsen "Ives" Reindollar, IV; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: Vernay Numsen & Mary Shaffer Reindollar; his wife: Dorothy "Dotti" Brooking Inglis Reindollar died: January 29, 2000. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11:00 am, by The Reverend Richard Draper, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 506 Mulberry Street, Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery, Milton, Kentucky, with full military honors conducted by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion. VISITATION Friends may call Monday from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm & Tuesday from 9:00 am - 10:30 am at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, Indiana.
