Terry Allen Gross

Mr. Terry Allen Gross, age 55, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on April 26, 1954, in Jefferson County, Indiana the son of Bertie L. Porter Griffith. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1972, graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He also graduated in 1978 from Ivy Tech with a degree in automotive technology, welding technology & accounting technology. He was united in marriage in December 1977 to Linda L. Smith, to this union arrived one daughter to bless their home. Terry began his working career at the Jefferson County Courthouse as a janitor from 1974-1979; He then worked until 1985 with the Jefferson County Highway Department as a mechanic, heavy equipment operator & truck driver. He began a new career in 1986 working at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center as a developmental skills technician until 1991. He then worked until 1998 at the Madison State Hospital as a psychiatric attendant. He then drove a truck for Werner Trucking for a year. He then worked as a correctional officer for the Madison Correctional Facility until 2004. He then began working for the Lowe's Distribution Center in North Vernon as a yardman and truck driver until his death. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Manville Christian Church. He enjoyed target shooting, gardening, tending to his flowers, was an avid reader and spending time with his family. Terry died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his residence near Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Terry will be missed by his loving daughter: Martha Elizabeth Ebley & her husband: Jake of Madison, Indiana; his step father: James E. "Jimmy" Griffith of Madison, Indiana; his aunt: Mildred Beard of Standford, Kentucky; several cousins & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother: Bertie L. Porter Griffith died: September 17, 1997; his grandparents: Corbett & Cena Riley Porter. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 4:00 pm, by the Rev. Charles Dayadharum and Rev. Dave Fox at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Ryker's Ridge New Cemetery near Ryker's Ridge, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 pm until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to Ryker's Ridge Cemetery Association. Cards are available at the funeral home.
