Mrs. Suzanne "Sue" Buyer Ward

Mrs. Suzanne "Sue" Buyer Ward, age 88, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on April 14, 1928 in Geneva, Indiana. She was raised in Adams County and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes. She received her Bachelors in Social Services from Indiana University in 1950. Sue was united in marriage on June 18, 1954 to Donald E. Ward, Sr. at the Vincennes Presbyterian Church. This happy union of 59 years was blessed with two sons, Donald, Jr. and Andrew. The family settled in Madison in 1957 and Sue worked as a social worker with the Madison Consolidated School System retiring after 22 years of service. She was very community minded and served as a docent for Historic Madison, Inc. where she was a board member. She also served on the board of Englishton Park and helped to establish the children's programs there. Sue served on the board of the Madison - Jefferson County Public Library and the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority serving as vice president and pledge trainer; and a member of the AAUW. Sue was a faithful member of the Madison Presbyterian Church in downtown Madison. She found great enjoyment in traveling especially to Arizona. Sue's many talents included knitting, working crossword puzzles, cooking, playing Bridge, bird watching, feeding the birds and was an avid reader. Family was important to her and the time spent with her grandchildren was dear to her heart. Sue died on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at 5:40 a.m. at the Hickory Creek of Madison in Madison, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY
Sue will be missed by her loving sons, Donald E. Ward, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Madison, Indiana, Andrew F. Ward and Yvonne of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren, Kelsi Ward, Samuel Ward and Matthew Ward; her sister, Barbara Cavanaugh of Plainfield, Indiana; her sister in law, Linda Singer of Kokomo, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl George and Eva June Evans Buyer, her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald E. "Don" Ward, Sr. died, October 26, 2013, and her sister, June McFarland.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE CEREMONY
Memorial services will be conducted Friday, July 15, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Katrina Pekich-Bundy at the Madison Presbyterian Church, 202 Broadway Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
