Sms Ronald E. Wheeler, Usaf (Ret) Obituary (1930

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of SMS Ronald Edgar Wheeler, USAF (RET) SMS Ronald Edgar Wheeler, USAF (RET), age 89, of Hendersonville, Tennessee entered this life on February 24, l930 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Russell D. and Juanita Marie Callis Wheeler. He grew up in Madison, and graduated from Central High School in 1947. He earned a degree in business from Indiana University. On October 11, l952 he was united in marriage to Wilma LaVerne Hatchel in Madison, Indiana. This union was blessed with a daughter, Elizabeth, and a son, Kevin. He was inducted into the United States Air Force on July 13, 1947 and served for 41 years, seven months and five days retiring on November 20, 1989 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He had served during the Occupation of Japan to help clean up from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal on March 6, 1969, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Air Force Medal. He then worked with the Defense Logistics Agency for eight years as a contract specialist in Nashville, Tennessee. During his travels he had resided in Columbus, Indiana at Bakalar AFB, Wright Patterson AFB, Kokomo, Indiana and in Hendersonville since 1982. Ronald was a member of the Kokomo Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Indiana. He enjoyed his many trips to his native Madison to visit family and friends. Ronald died on Monday, September 23, 2019, at his home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Click Here for Funeral Service Video A LOVING FAMILY Ronald will be missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Wilma LaVerne Hatchel Wheeler of Hendersonville, Tennessee; his loving daughter Beth Ann Wilson and her husband David of Kingwood, Texas; his loving son Kevin Wheeler of Hendersonville, Tennessee; his beautiful granddaughters Jennifer Schnurpel (husband Chris Schnurpel), Rachael Keeble (husband Chris Keeble), and Rebecca Wheeler; his great-grandchildren Alexandria Schnurpel, Trent Schnurpel, Cayse Keeble, and Daxton Schnurpel; his sister-in-law Nancy Wheeler of Madison, Indiana along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father Russel D. Wheeler, his mother Juanita Marie Callis Wheeler, his grandson David T. Wilson Jr, his brothers Herschel R. Wheeler, Elmo Wheeler, Clayton Wheeler, Maynard Wheeler, Johnny Wheeler. CEREMONY Military honors will be conducted Monday, September 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion and the United States Air Force Ceremonial Unit at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Family and friends may visit Morgan and Nay Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the cemetery. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
