Shirley J. Brazier Carlson Mayberry

Mrs. Shirley J. Brazier Carlson Mayberry, age 82, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on January 15, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Fred E. & Maude E. Price Brazier, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Norwood, Ohio and was a 1944 graduate of Norwood High School. She was united in marriage on June 20, 1953 to Donald L. Carlson. To this union arrived three daughters and one son to bless their home. Shirley & Don enjoyed thirty seven years of marriage together until his death on August 31, 1990. She had resided in Madison since 1964 and was employed with Reliance Electric Company as an office administrator for twenty three years. She was a previous clerk for Gateway and the Plaza Shop. Shirley was united in marriage on May 15, 1999, at the Madison Presbyterian Church to William J. Mayberry. She enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, music, reading, painting and art. She was a faithful member of the Madison Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for the past 41 years and served as an elder. She was a member of the Madison Art Club, the Madison Music Club, the Sweet Adelines, the Carriage House, and volunteered at the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library. Shirley was awaiting the birth of her third great grandchild. Shirley died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 5:38 am at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Carlson Garrett of Madison, Indiana; Lori Snart & her husband: Tim of Coal Valley, Illinois; Dana Douglass & her husband: Jay of Madison, Indiana; her loving son: Kevin Carlson & his companion: Kim Kirchner of Madison, Indiana; her loving step-sons: Kirk Mayberry & his wife: Debbie of West Chester, Ohio; Eric Mayberry of Clarkston, Michigan; Gregg Mayberry of Madison, Indiana; her brother: Edward Brazier, Florida; her grandchildren: Michelle & Matthew James; Andrew Garrett & his fiancee' Alex Stephan; Kristen Carlson; Ben & Jennifer Snart; Brittany & Chelsey Douglass; her great grandchildren: Madalyn James & Kristofer Carlson; her step-grandchildren: Todd & Paige Mayberry and Thomas Gregory; her step-great grandson: Landon Gregory; several nieces, nephews, & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred E. & Maude E. Price Brazier; her first husband: Donald L. Carlson died on August 31, 1990; her son in law: Jeffrey O. Garrett died on October 30, 2005; her brother: Louis Brazier; her sisters: Virginia Brazier & Mary Dean. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 1:00 pm, by the Reverend Elisa Owen, at the Madison Presbyterian Church, 202 Broadway Street in downtown, Madison, Indiana. Private interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday at 10:00 am. VISITATION Friends may call Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Saturday from 12 Noon until time of the service at the Madison Presbyterian Church at 202 Broadway Street in downtown Madison, Indiana.
