Let Us Pause to Honor the Memory of Mrs. Shirley Dean Jones Bennett Mrs. Shirley Dean Jones Bennett, age 73, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 22, 1947 in Port Royal, Kentucky. Shirley was the loving daughter of the late Alvin "Buck" and Willie J. Jones. She was raised in Port Royal and graduated high school there. On February 20, 1971 Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Bennett at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union of 49 years was blessed with a daughter, Stephanie. The family had resided in Madison since 1971 and she worked as a crossing guard for many years at Lydia Middleton Elementary School in downtown Madison. Shirley was a faithful member of the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Kentucky. She loved her church, her family, socializing on the phone and Facebook and going to the McDonalds Club. Shirley died on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 4:12 p.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Bennett of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughter, Stephanie Manis and her husband, Richard of Madison, Indiana; her loving granddaughter, Katelynn Garvey and her companion, Brandon Ehlers of Hanover, Indiana; her loving grandson, Connor Manis; her adoring great grandchildren, Maverick and Braxton Ehlers; her brother in law, Jerry Bennett of Leesville, Louisiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin "Buck" Jones, died June 4, 1988, her mother, Willie J. Jones, died October 12, 1995, her brother, Donald G. "Donnie" Jones, died November 11, 1944, her brother Ray Jones, died in 2003, her half brother, Harold D. Jones, died May 27, 2017, her half sister, Sylvia Jones Fisher. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., by Preacher Cliff Hartley at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
