Sharon Ann Copeland Shields

Mrs. Sharon Ann Copeland Shields, lifelong resident of Madison, Indiana, passed away on September 20, 2026. Born on November 1, 1945, to the late Alva D. Copeland and June Buchele Copeland. She graduated in 1963 from Madison Consolidated High School and later attended Ivy Tech Community College, graduating in 1990 with a degree in business. Sharon was united in marriage on February 22, 1964, in Madison, Indiana to Louis Dewey Shields. Their loving union, which lasted sixty-two and a half years, was blessed with a son, Eric, and a daughter, Annette. Sharon was a successful entrepreneur, owning her own business, SAS Reporting Service, serving as a court reporter for the tri-state area until her retirement in 2021. Prior to this, she had worked for the Social Security Administration in Madison and was a teacher's aide at Ryker's Ridge Elementary. A devoted member of Madison Moose Lodge #765, she was also part of the Women of the Moose.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-two and a half years, Louis Dewey Shields of Madison, Indiana; her son Eric Shields (Renee) of Louisville, Kentucky; her daughter Annette "Pooh" Craig (Barry) of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren Megan Dudding (Paul Duane), Logan Trowbridge (Rachel), Logan Craig (Chelsea), Nate Craig, Maggie Shields (Dylan Knopp), Luke Boehnlein (Ashlynn Tucker), Ryan Shields (Kayla Riley), Nate Shields; her great-grandchildren Lakelynn, Lincoln, Asher, Ryder, Emmalynn, Sommer and George; her brothers Gene Copeland, Wayne Copeland, Ronnie Copeland and Lonnie "Bub" Copeland; her sister Phyllis Copeland Shelton; her numerous other nieces, nephews and relatives. Sharon is preceded in death by her father Alva D. Copeland; her mother June Buchele Copeland; her sisters Karen "KD" Callis and Lois Copeland Davis; her niece Michele Copeland; her various aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, Indiana, 47250 and Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the same location. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, Indiana.
