Roland Henson Newman

Mr. Roland Henson Newman, age 80, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on April 19, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, He was the loving son of the late Harry L. and Theresa Genus Newman. He was raised in Chicago and later in Indianapolis, graduating from Shortridge High School in 1964. He then graduated from Chicago Allied Institute of Technology and furthered his education at Indiana Central College. He was united in marriage to Thelma Jean Graham. This happy union of 47 years was blessed with son, Roland, Jr. and Julian and daughters, Michelle and Veronica. Roland had worked all over the world as a project engineer, working in China, France and Germany. He began his career at Jarrett Engineering in Indianapolis and later worked for the following companies: Delco Electric, Western Electric, P.R. Mallery, Kirby's Engineering LTD (England), One Union Carbide, Rolls Royce (Turbine Engine Allison) Boeing Aircraft. He resided in Indianapolis for 47 years and Thelma Jean passed away on May 12, 2014. On March 25, 2017, he was united in marriage to Patricia Marie Taylor in Indianapolis. They attended St. Luke Methodist Church in Indianapolis. He had resided in Madison since 2017 and became a board member of the Eleutherian College Historic Site and served as project engineer for the Hoyt House restoration. He enjoyed collecting model cars and watches. He like to dress professionally and enjoyed traveling. He also liked following Formula One racing. Roland died on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:49 p.m. at the Emergency Room of Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY Roland will be missed by his loving wife, Patricia Marie Taylor Newman of Madison, Indiana; his loving sons, Roland Henson Newman, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; Julian L. Newman and his wife, Brooke of Salt Lake City, Utah; his loving daughters, Michelle Denise Newman of Indianapolis, Indiana; Veronica Ann Newman of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Newman, Erica Newman, Elijah Newman, and Elana Newman; his great-grandchild, Amira. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry R. L. Newman, died 1980; Theresa Genus Newman, died 1974; his loving wife of 47 years, Thelma Jean Graham Newman, died, May 12, 2014; and his half brother, Harry Newman, Jr.

VISITATION Friends may call Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

INTERMENTInterment will be private in the Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
