Roderick A'Dale "Rod" Ball Obituary (1954

Mr. Roderick A'Dale "Rod" Ball, age 69, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on October 17,, 1954 in East Lansing, Michigan. He was the son of the late Neil and Helen Mae Roeloff Ball. He grew up in Cardiff by the Sea in San Diego, California, where he developed his passion for surfing the waves. He was united in marriage on December 18, 1976 in San Diego to Debra J. Major. This union was blessed with a son, Roderick Neil and a daughter, Melissa. He started his lengthy career in restaurant management which would bring him to the Ohio River valley where he eventually settled in Southern Indiana in his later life. A later marriage on May 27, 1984 was to Dianne Reed and this union was blessed with three daughters, Michal Elaine, Emily and Hannah. He was proud to have developed the bread recipe for Texas Roadhouse and helped open the first one in Clarksville, Indiana. On March 17, 2016 Rod married Regina "Gina" Angela Gilbert Sudduth at the Big Four Bridge in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He also was proud to have developed the menu for Chi Chi's Restaurant in Clarksville. He fully enjoyed his retirement to the Tate Ridge - Madison with his wife, Gina. Rod and Gina loved the "Tate Ridge Country Club Friends" and enjoyed all their social outings. He had fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and was lovingly cared for by his wife, Gina. Rod passed peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 4:55 a.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute A LOVING FAMILY Rod will be missed by his loving wife of eight years, Regina "Gina" Angela Gilbert Ball of Madison, Indiana; his son, Roderick Neil Ball of Fresno, California; his daughters, Melissa Ball of Pacifica, California, Michal Eliane Ball of New Washington, Indiana, Emily Ball of New Washington, Indiana, Hannah Ball Henson and her husband, Mikey of Austin, Indiana; his step son, Joshua Sudduth and his wife, Mary Beth of Nashville, Tennessee; his step daughter, Ivana Sudduth and her fiance, Phil of Lexington, Kentucky ; his grandchildren, Troy, Quinton, Vera, Braelyn, Jordyn, Shiloh, and Roland; his sisters, Sally Ball of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Jan McKinney and her husband, Don of Arizona; his brothers, Alan Ball and his wife, Anya of California, Patrick Ball and his wife, Debra of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Eric Ball and his wife, Fonda of Hawaii; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; the Tate Ridge Country Club Friends, Derek and Megan, Bob, Chrissy, and Nolan, Doug and Patty, and Austin; his pall bearers, Derek Lengerich, Bob Sample, Doug and Patty Phagan, Nolan Smith, Patrick Ball, Mikey Henson, and Joshua Sudduth. He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Ball, his mother, Helen Mae Roeloff Ball, and his sister, Sherry Schollian. PUBLIC GRAVESIDE FUNERAL CEREMONY Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., by Chaplain Larry "T.C." Baker at the Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery. PRIVATE VISITATION Friends and family will gather privately on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
