Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Robert "Bob" Wayne Hudson, Sr. Mr. Robert "Bob" Wayne Hudson, Sr., age 81, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on June 8, 1936 in Bedford, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Walter and Juanita Callis Hudson. He resided his early life in Trimble County and was a 1954 graduate of Trimble County High School. He then attended Morehead State College and received his Bachelor of Science in 1958 with a minor in chemistry and geography. Bob was inducted into the United States Army on October 23, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Specialist Four serving in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He was honorably discharged on July 25, 1960 at Fort Monmouth, receiving his Sharpshooter and Expert Carbine badges. He then remained in the Reserves until October 22, 1964. Bob was united in marriage on September 15, 1962 to Donna Joan Sanders at the Milton United Methodist Church. This happy union of 55 years was blessed with a son, Robert Wayne, Jr. and daughters, Leigh Ann and Nanette. Bob began a career with the federal government in civilian work at the Jefferson Proving Ground, becoming second in command as a civilian. He retired upon the closing of the installation and was serving as the technical director upon its closing in 1995. Bob's mission in life was to serve and help others so he immediately became involved in the community. Bob had served as a volunteer and as president of RSVP and had been a member for over 22 years. He also helped at the Salvation Army, boxing up meals and helping wherever needed. Bob also served as one of the community Veterans Affairs Van drivers, making multiple trips a week to be sure local veterans made it to the doctors. Bob was honored by the VA Medical Center for 2,274 hours and five years of his service as a driver. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Madison where he served as a deacon, usher, fellowship meal team, transportation team, Boy Scout team, small group Bible study facilitator, benevolence team, Sunday school teacher, and the American Baptist men. Bob helped his daughter by working a paper route for the Madison Courier for five years. Bob definitely enjoyed serving others and giving back to his community. Bob's faith led him to pray every day for others and to study the Bible. He enjoyed cooking as well and made it a point to host family meals weekly at his home. He furthered his knowledge his entire life by reading daily. After his wife suffered multiple strokes over the past 20 years, he lovingly cared for her daily. Bob died on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 3:15 a.m. at his residence in Madison, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hudson, his mother, Juanita Callis Hudson, and his sister, Jerry Hamilton. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., by Rev. Randy Crutchfield at the First Baptist Church, 416 Vine Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the First Baptist Church, 416 Vine Street in downtown Madison, Indiana.MILITARY HONORSA final salute with full military honors will be conducted on Sunday by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion and the Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit.MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the RSVP or the DAV Van Fund.
