Robert Thomas "Bob" Boone

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Robert Thomas "Bob" Boone Mr. Robert Thomas "Bob" Boone, age 92, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 14, 1921 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was the loving son of the late, Loyd and Nellie Rae Perkins Boone. Bob was inducted into the United States Army on August 2, 1942 at Fort Thomas, Kentucky. He was a private serving in Battery B, 5th Training Detachment Field Artillery School during World War II. He fought in battles and campaigns at Aleutians Islands and was honorably discharged on November 2, 1945 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma receiving the American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater With One Bronze Star. He was raised in Owen County, Kentucky and was raised in the Baptist faith. Bob was a farmer and construction worker, having farmed with his brother Austin in Jefferson and Ohio Counties. He retired from Halcomb Home Center in Versailles in 1988. He enjoyed mowing his yard, wood working and fishing. Bob died on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 4:10 p.m. at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Vevay, Indiana. Click Here for Funeral Service or Tribute Video A LOVING FAMILY Bob will be missed by his loving daughters, Sandy Caplinger and her husband, Paul Eddie of Vevay, Indiana, Debbie White and her husband, Tim of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; his loving grandsons, Shawn Caplinger, Michael Caplinger, Steve White & Gary White; his adoring great grandchildren, Zachary, Cheyenne, and Linsey Caplinger; his loving sisters, Ola B. Heath - Purvis and her husband, Charlie of Bedford, Kentucky, Arizona Jefferies of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by parents, Loyd and Nellie Rae Perkins Boone, his sisters, Ila Beckham, Marie Tinsley, Mabel Lee Boone, Gertrude Paul, Eunice Wright & Mary Greene, his brothers, Atmore Boone, Porter Boone, Loyd "Les" Boone, Austin Boone and Edgar Boone. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor K.C. Banta, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORS A final salute will be conducted on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion. Followed by full military honors to be conducted on Friday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Long Run Baptist Church.
