Preston R. "Pres" Jackson

Mr. Preston R. Jackson, age 68, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on July 4, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio (Hamilton County). He was the loving son of the late George M. Sr., and Shirley M. Patterson Jackson. He graduated in 1967 from Southwestern High School and that same year on July 10th he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He rose to the rate of Sergeant serving from 1968 - 1969 during the Vietnam War. Pres was honorably discharged on July 7, 1971. He attended the University of Louisville for certification as an electrician. Pres was blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Kristi from his first marriage to Joyce Cecil on May 31, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky. On April 3, 1986 Pres was united in marriage to Christine Lee Chandler in West Palm Beach, Florida. He worked as an electrician for 30 years in the maintenance department for General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky. Pres was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church, Hanover Masonic Lodge No. 652 F. & A.M., Madison VFW Post 1969, Jefferson Post No. 9 of the American Legion and a former member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765. Pres enjoyed going on vacations to the beach with his wife Christy; listening to oldies on his juke box; teasing and joking with his loving family; the outdoors, boating, cruising, camping and mowing his lawn; and sports such as golf. Pres died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Gay of Madison, Indiana; his loving sister, Marsha L. Jackson of Hanover, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Hunter Mefford, Foster Mefford, Parker Mefford, Danielle Williams, Cody Williams, Madison Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, Jr. and Robbie Jackson; his sisters in law, Dawn Beene' of Tamms, Illinois and Stacy Rodgers of Tamms, Illinois; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, George M., Sr. and Shirley M. Patterson Jackson; his grandparents, Andrew and Freda Jackson; John and Olga Patterson.

PRIVATE CEREMONYPrivate family services will be held at Pres's request at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Pres wanted all his friends to remember him for who and how he was.
