Peggy Joyce Prather Wehner

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Prather Wehner, age 58, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on July 6, 1954 in Scott County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, James E. and Gladys I. Stocker Prather. She was raised in the Deputy community and was raised in the Bethany Baptist Church near Deputy. Peggy was a 1972 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and participated in the band. On August 24, 1974, Peggy was united in marriage to James W. Wehner at the Bethany Baptist Church. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Kristen and a son, Doug. Peggy was a devoted Wife, loving Mom, adoring Meme and caring Sister. She began her working career working for the Wynn family at the Madison Dairy Queen. In 1975 she began employment with the Jefferson Proving Ground near Madison for the next 19 years until it closed. Peggy then began in 1996 serving as the administrative services manager at the Ivy Tech Madison Campus until her sudden death. Peggy was a faithful member and servant of the Wirt Baptist Church. She served as the president of the Wirt Mission Circle; coordinator and teacher of the Women's Bible Study at Wirt; assistant Sunday School Superintendent; Song Leader; Sunday School Teacher; served on the Children's Evening Services Committee; Program Committee; Kitchen Committee; Board of Education; Youth Council and where ever needed in the church and church family. Peggy served as president of the Madison Baptist Association Women's Ministries, as mission liaison for Wirt Baptist for the Indiana American Baptist and the American Baptist Association Scholarship Committee. Peggy enjoyed serving and caring for others, especially in her church and community. Peggy adored her time with her grandchildren and enjoyed collecting angels. Peggy died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 3:14 p.m. at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana with her loving family at her side. A LOVING FAMILY Peggy will be missed by her loving husband of thirty nine years: James W. Wehner of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughter: Kristen Morton and her husband, Bob of Madison, Indiana; her loving son: Doug Wehner and his wife, Sandy of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren: Garrett Morton, Shelby Morton and Reagan Wehner; her loving brother: Nathan C. Prather and his wife, Teresa of Deputy, Indiana; her loving sisters: Linda Pfander and her husband, Dave of Deputy, Indiana, Gayle Everhart of Deputy, Indiana, Joy Yager and her husband, Rocky of Dupont, Indiana; her sisters in law and brothers in law: Diana Wehner of Titusville, Florida, Barbara Wehner Stahl of Franklin, Indiana, Marilyn Wehner of Madison, Indiana, Kenny and Polly Wehner of Madison, Indiana, Joan Wehner of Madison, Indiana, Tom and Jackie Wehner of Madison, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys I. Stocker Prather died, Nov. 4, 1970; James E. "Jim" Prather died, August 8, 2008; her father in law and mother in law, Kenneth Sr. and Kathryn Wehner; her grandparents, Charlie D. and Mattie Bolton Prather; Hubert James and Nellie Frances Phillips Stocker. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Troy Hedges at the Wirt Baptist Church, 4773 North 350 West near Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Wirt Baptist Church, 4773 North 350 West near Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Wirt Baptist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
