Paul Bentley "Skip" Keach, Jr. Obituary (1943

Mr. Paul Bentley "Skip" Keach, Jr. entered this life on December 13, 1943, in New Haven, Connecticut. He was the loving son of Paul Bentley Sr. and Marion Lees Keach. His family moved to Hanover, Indiana, in 1948, and he remained there the rest of his life. He earned his B.A. from Hanover College and his M.A. in German at Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. On August 6, 1967, he married the love of his life, Serena Willis. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Melissa. He taught German and English at Madison Consolidated High School for thirty-four years, before retiring in 2000 with the affectionate sobriquet, "Herr Keach". Skip and Serena summered on Bass Lake near Pentwater, Michigan, where he enjoyed reading, and fishing, and making many friends in their adopted community. From attending the United Methodist Church of Ludington, Michigan to visiting the local farmers' market, they spread their kindness, friendship and cheer far and wide. He loved spending time with his family; his face brightening into a wide smile when he spoke of his beloved grandson, Ethan. When not on the lake in Michigan or visiting with his friends at the Hanover McDonalds, Skip worked in his spare time at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre comforting families with his warm and caring touch. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Madison, was also a dedicated member of the Madison Lions Club, and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Frank O'Bannon on the occasion of his retirement from teaching. Skip died on Monday, March 13, 2017, at 12:45 PM at his residence in Hanover, Indiana. Click Here for Tribute or Funeral Service Video A LOVING FAMILY Skip will be missed by his loving daughter, Melissa Keach Underwood and her husband, Nathan of Lexington, Kentucky; his beloved grandson, Ethan Alexander Underwood of Lexington, Kentucky; his loving brother, Jonathan Lees Keach and his wife, Cheryl of Valparaiso, Indiana; his loving sister in law, Melanie Childress of Madison, Indiana; his loving nieces and nephews, Karl F. Keach (Jamie), Rebecca A. Keach, Michelle Childress, and Aaron Childress. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Bentley, Sr. and Marion Lees Keach, and his beloved wife, Serena Keach. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., by the Reverend Dennis Ingle at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 412 West Main Street Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Hanover Cemetery. VISITATION Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana, and Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 412 West Main Street Madison, Indiana. LIONS CLUB MEMORIAL SERVICE The Madison Lions Club will conduct a memorial service on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.
