Orland "Keith" Ligon Obituary (1931

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Orland "Keith" Ligon Mr. Orland "Keith" Ligon, age 85, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on May 6, 1931 in Bryantsburg, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Rufus and Gladys Custer Ligon. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was a 1949 graduate of Saluda High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 at Indianapolis, Indiana during the Korean War. He rose to the rate of Corporal serving Company B 5th Regimental Combat Team. Keith was honorably discharged on August 4, 1953 from Fort Campbell, Kentucky receiving the Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. On August 15, 1953 he was united in marriage to Marguerite Carol Lock in Madison, Indiana. This happy union of 63 years was blessed with daughters, Beth and Dawn. He worked at the Jefferson Proving Ground from 1966 until 1987 as a testing technician. He was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church for 40 years where he was an ordained Deacon. He had recently become a member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Madison. Keith enjoyed bowling early in life, loved antiques, refinishing furniture, long rides in the country with family and friends, his beloved cat, Vinny, but most of all being with his family was the most important thing in his life. Keith was a gentleman and enjoyed his many friendships throughout his life. Keith died on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 7:38 p.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Click Here for Tribute or Funeral Service Video A LOVING FAMILY Keith will be missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Marguerite Carol Lock Ligon of Hanover, Indiana; his daughters, Beth Marie Ligon of Fishers, Indiana and Dawn Renee Hennessey and her husband Kevin of Fishers, Indiana; his loving granddaughter, Elle Muse and her husband William "Nick" of Noblesville, Indiana; his loving grandsons, Jordan Hennessey of Chicago, Illinois, Bryant Hennessey of Indianapolis, Indiana; his adoring great grandson, William Nicholas Muse, II of Noblesville, Indiana; his sisters, Maxine Crafton of Hanover, Indiana, Maydelle Hackler of Ridge Farm, Illinois; his sister in law, Carolyn Montgomery of Hanover, Indiana; his brother in laws, Paul Lock and his wife, Nancy of Hawthorn, Florida, Harry Chadwell of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Gladys Custer Ligon. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Randy Crutchfield and Rev. Dennis Bickers at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. FULL MILITARY HONORS A final salute will be conducted on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre with full military honors to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana by the Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
