Nellie R. Powell Hearne Williams Obituary (1920

Mrs. Nellie R. Powell Hearne Williams, age 91, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on March 23, 1920 in Morgan County, Tennessee. She was the loving daughter of the late, Ernest & Emma Alley Powell. She was raised in Morgan County and was a 1938 graduate of Oakdale High School. She moved North at the age of 18 and on October 23, 1940 was united in marriage to Edgar Hearne in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with five children. She was a devoted wife, mother & grandma. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching the birds, reading, writing poetry, listening to music and caring for her grandchildren. She was employed in the 1960's with Randall's as a line worker. She then worked in the bakery and deli for the Jay-C Store & Food's Plus. She retired from Dieken's Bakery where she enjoyed preparing delicious bakery goods. She was a faithful member of the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church. Nellie died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 5:18 a.m. at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Nellie will be missed by her loving daughters: Saundra Schmidt Polly of Madison, Indiana, Phyllis Robbins and her husband, John of Madison, Indiana; her loving son: Mark Andrew Hearne and his wife, Sonya of Madison, Indiana; her loving grandchildren: Nanette Brewer, Diane Carol Meyer, Robert J. Schmidt, Jr., Saundra J. Moore, Sharon Annette Corbin, Susan Lynn Priest, James Brian Robbins, John Michael Robbins, Joseph David Hearne, Brandi Michelle Hearne, Gabriel Clinton Hearne, Jerad Tyler Hearne, Matthew Lee Hearne, Shelley Poindexter, Steven Poindexter; her loving great grandchildren: Charles, John, Whitney, Beatrice, Jacob, Cody, Sandie, Kevin, Steven, Ian, Ashton, Rebecca, James, Erica, Kyla, Zachary, Brian Michael, Jonathon, Emily, Ashley, Hunter, Erin, Camryn, Jaxon, Leighton, Brandon, Clinton & Rae-anna; her loving great great grandchildren: Damian, Courtney, Trevor, Matthew, Ginger, Auggie, Zeb, Haley, Zane, Shaun, Shane, Dillon, Brianna, & Hayden; her brother: David Ernest "Brownie" Powell & his wife, Helen of Clearwater, Florida; her sister: Lela Doerflein of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ernest and Emma Alley Powell; her husbands: Edgar Hearne, died, December 26, 1971 and Guy Williams died, Nov. 21, 1980; her son Edgar J. Hearne died, October 30, 1984; her daughter: Linda Poindexter Starkey, died, Sept. 2, 2003; her great granddaughter: Anna F. Schmidt; her brothers: James, Ralph, Rufus and Roger; her sisters: Martha, Mary, Carrie and one who passed in infancy. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 3:30 p.m., by Pastor Eric Freking, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Monroe Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
