Nellie Carolyn Horton Wallace

Mrs. Nellie Carolyn Horton Wallace age 86, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on April 3, 1926 in Milton, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late, Hobart & Amy Getrude Chandler Horton. She resided in Trimble County until her family moved to Madison in 1932. She was a graduate of Madison High School 1944. Nellie was united in marriage on May 25, 1950 in Madison to Bobby Gayle "Bob" Wallace. This happy union of sixty one years was blessed with one son and two daughters. Nellie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Nellie was first employed with the Shoe Factory in downtown Madison and then she served as the secretary for Boy Scouts of America. She later worked at Roger's Drug Store for several years. Nellie then worked as an assistant with Dr. Denton for several years. She was employed with Steinhardt & Hanson in downtown Madison, Indiana for twenty years. Nellie was a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed her participation with her sisters. Nellie in her spare time enjoyed boating, gardening, cleaning, working in her yard and looking at her view of the Ohio River. Nellie was a meticulous woman who enjoyed caring for her family and her home. Nellie died Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at her home in Madison Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Nellie will be missed by her loving daughters: Carol Hackney & her husband, Ed of Mason, Ohio and Robyn Brown & her husband, Chris of Mooresville, North Carolina; her loving sisters: Dorothy Jean Poynter of Madison, Indiana, Joanne "Jodi" Richmond of Franklin, Indiana; her loving brothers: Ben Horton & Charles Horton both of Madison, Indiana; her loving sister in law: Patty Bruno of Clearwater, Florida; her loving grandchildren: Jordan Hackney, Drew Hackney, Kendall Hackney, & Chad Kiel; her adoring great grandchild: Hope Hackney; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart & Amy Gertrude Chandler Horton; her husband, Bobby Gayle "Bob" Wallace died, December 1, 2011; her son, Robert Kirk Wallace died, December 11, 1956; her sisters, Evelyn Horton, Norma Horton & Audrey Cannon; her brother, Douglas Horton. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Mike Hamby at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or the Gideon's Memorial Bible Plan. Cards are available at the funeral home.
