Nellie F. Rorie Stanley

Mrs. Nellie F. Rorie Stanley, age 89, of Lexington, Indiana, entered this life on March 7, 1922 in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was the loving daughter of the late, Forrest Manning & Darling Nellie Gray Rorie. She was raised in Clarksville, Tennessee and graduated high school there at the age of 15. She was united in marriage on March 26, 1948 in Clarksville, Tennessee to James Y. "Ike" Stanley. This happy union was blessed with two daughters and one son. She later resided in Shelbyville, Kentucky and moved to Madison in 1952. She was first employed with Richard Heck Tobacco Warehouse as a bookkeeper for five years. She then worked for 35 years at the A & P Store as the head bookkeeper. She later worked for ten years in the proof room for the First National Bank. She was a member of the Hanover Eastern Star Chapter No. 525 and the Hanover United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cross word puzzles, I Love Lucy Television Shows, Baking, Sewing, & her dog "Rusty". Nellie died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 6:30 a.m. at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Nellie will be missed by her loving daughter: Barbara Mahoney & her husband, Larry of Lexington, Indiana; her son: Jim Stanley, Jr. & his wife, Sandra of Lexington, Indiana; her loving grandchildren: Amanda Stanley, Beth & Roger Sevier; Monty Wayne & Valerie Mahoney; Rodney & Darla Mahoney; Montica & Tony Brawner; her loving great grandchildren: Ashley Sevier; Jeremy & Paula Jo Mahoney; Tanner & Morgan Mahoney; Matthew, Brandon & Michael Brawner; her loving great great grandson: Lane Yager; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest Manning & Darling Nellie Gray Rorie; her husband, James Y. "Ike" Stanley died, October 26, 1999; her daughter, Betty Jo Mahoney died, March 21, 1967; her granddaughter, Tami Jo Stanley died, Feb. 14, 1984; her brothers, Forrest, Pat Henry & Johnny Rorie; her sister, Polly Wade. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2:30 p.m., by Pastor Jeanne Winter, at the Hanover United Methodist Church, 220 East LaGrange Road in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. VISITATION Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the Hanover United Methodist Church , 220 East LaGrange Road in Hanover, Indiana. SPECIAL SERVICES Hanover Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 525 will conduct a service on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. . MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover United Methodist Church or Jefferson County Animal Shelter or American Cancer Society. Cards are available at the funeral home.
