Myrle Sedam

–

Madison, Indiana

Myrle Edward Sedam, 82, of Madison, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2026. Born on August 31, 1944, in Madison, Indiana, Myrle was the son of Cecil James Sedam and Otia Virginia (Tilley) Sedam. He spent his life serving his family, community, and church with quiet dedication, humility, and a strong work ethic.
On June 14, 1964, he married the love of his life, Ruth Elaine Lichlyter. Together they built a devoted family and shared more than 62 years of marriage. Myrle worked in maintenance for Madison Consolidated Schools for 38 years. Widely known as
a man who could repair anything, he was recognized across the area by his CB handle, "Fix-It Man." Whether it was a broken appliance, a difficult machinery problem, or a project no one else could solve, family, friends, and neighbors knew they could always count on Myrle. His mechanical ingenuity, endless patience, and generous willingness to lend a hand made him deeply respected by everyone who crossed his path.
A man of quiet faith, Myrle was a dedicated member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Volga, Indiana. Above all, his life was defined by his steadfast devotion to his family. He loved to fish, go to the boat, watch hydroplane racing, garden, play cards, camp and rabbit hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elaine Sedam; three sons, Scott Sedam (Joy) of Charlestown, Indiana, Chris Sedam (Kara) of Madison, Indiana, and Dale Sedam (Kimberly) of Milton, Kentucky; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Willie Sedam (Barb) of Madison, Indiana and Thomas Sedam of Madison, Indiana; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. Myrle was preceded in death by his parents Cecil J. Sedam (December 19, 1978), Otia Virginia Tilley (October 8, 1977); his brothers, James R. Sedam (September 10, 1941) and James (Jim) W. Sedam (August 1, 2012); his sisters, Beverly Sue Thornton (May 1, 2024) and Charlotte “Cassie” Alford (January 13, 2002); his grandson David (CJ) Hamblin (September 1, 2012).
