Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Morgan U. "Steve" Smith, Jr. Mr. Morgan U. "Steve" Smith, Jr. , age 71, of Deputy, Indiana entered this life on August 27, 1948 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Morgan Uly, Sr., and Myrtle Louise Copeland Smith. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1967 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. On March 9, 1968 Steve was united in marriage to Inez Marie Fox in Madison, Indiana. This union of 52 years was blessed with a daughter, Stephanie and a son, Chad. He worked early in life for Rotary Life in Madison, Indiana and then for his father in law at Fox Septic Service as a operator. He then owned and operated Steve's Backhoe Service until he became disabled. Steve had attended the Milton Wesleyan Church and enjoyed fishing and bowling. Steve died suddenly on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at 7:02 p.m. at his home in Deputy, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Steve will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Inez Marie Fox Smith of Deputy, Indiana; his son, Chad Smith and his wife, Jackie of Deputy, Indiana; his grandson, Joshua Lee Watterson and his wife, Kimi; his great grandson, Owen Worley; his step grandchildren, Tyler Bush and Kera Bishop;his sisters, Penny Leach of Canaan, Indiana, Aggie Giesler and her husband, Bobby of Washington, Indiana, Wanda Ferrell of Benham, Indiana; his brothers, Ronald Smith and his wife, Brenda of Canaan, Indiana, Samuel Earl Smith and his wife, Trudy of Versailles, Indiana, Donald Smith and his wife, Rhonda of Madison, Indiana, Mike Smith of Canaan, Indiana; his sisters in law, Connie Fox Beach and her husband, Leslie of, Hanover, Indiana, Donna Fox Snell and her husband, Roger of Hanover, Indiana; his uncle, Roy Smith of Canaan, Indiana; his aunts, Florence Haskell of Vevay, Indiana, Frances Lucille Robbins of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Morgan Uley Smith, Sr., died February 26, 1987, his mother, Myrtle Louise Copeland Smith, died September 24, 2019, his daughter, Stephanie Lee Smith Watterson, died June 13, 2016, his sister, Brenda Smith, died June 7, 1970, his nephews, Larry Gene Wood, Jr., died December 15, 2007 and Shawn Eric Wood, died July 20, 1971, and his brother in law, Harry Leach, died August 16, 2015.
