Michele Ward

Mrs. Michele "Micki" Himes Ward, age 56, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on January 17, 1956 in Sodus, New York. She was the loving daughter of Richard & Dorothy Miller Himes. She was raised in Sodus and was a 1974 graduate of Sodus Central School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York. Micki was united in marriage on June 13, 1981 in Sodus to Kenneth J. Ward. This happy union was blessed with two daughters and a son. She was also a Licensed Registered Nurse in Ohio and maintained her license until her death. She served as a registered nurse with the Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland and with the Visiting Nurses Association of Cleveland. Micki also worked as a nurse for Cleveland Parochial Schools. The family resided in the Cleveland suburbs from 1982-1997 until they moved to Madison. She enjoyed being a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed singing, reading, cooking, gardening, bird watching, sewing, and traveling. Micki enjoyed participating in her children's activities, serving in PTO, PTA, A.A.U.W., Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Jefferson County and P.E.O. International. She was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Micki passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana, with her loving family at her side. A LOVING FAMILY Micki will be missed by her loving husband: Ken Ward of Madison, Indiana; her daughters: Elizabeth "Betsy" Ward of Madison, Indiana, Jillian Ward of Madison, Indiana; her son: Stephen Ward of Madison, Indiana; her father: Richard Himes of Redfield, New York & his companion, Erma Schroeder of Richland, New York; her brother: David Himes of Newark, New York; her brothers in law & sisters in law: Judith & Rob Contolini of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Richard & Debbie Ward of East Sparta, Ohio, Robert Ward of Southfield, Michigan; seven nephews, two nieces, several aunts, uncles, cousins & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Miller Himes died in June 2003; her paternal grandparents, Leon & Isabell Himes; her maternal grandparents, Elmer & Annie Miller. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Funeral Mass will be conducted Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., by Father Christopher Craig at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. THE ROSARY The Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church Choir or the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Jefferson County or the Lupus Foundation of America.
