Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Michael "Mike" Lloyd Giltner Mr. Michael "Mike" Lloyd Giltner, age 73, of New Washington, Indiana formerly of Madison entered this life on August 21, 1945 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Luther Giltner Sr. and Samantha Marjorie Thornton Giltner Wooley. He spent most of his life near Madison and also spent some years in New Jersey. He was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School and was raised on Splinter's Ridge. He was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps. on October 18, 1966 in Louisville, Kentucky during the Vietnam War. He rose to the rate of Lance Corporal serving with the combat engineers and was honorably discharged on May 26, 1970 at the Marine Barracks at the Naval Station in Brooklyn, New York receiving the National Defence Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with four bronze battle stars, Combat Action Ribbon, two Good Conduct Medals, and the Navy Achievement Medal. He was blessed with a daughter, Judi from his companionship with Mary Moore. Mike was united in marriage to Joann Verlacco and this union was blessed with daughters, Michelle and Melissa. Mike was united in marriage to Suzanne Holick and this union was blessed with a daughter, Susan. He worked in maintenance for fourteen years at Presidential Estates in Madison. He also worked for Moore's Contracting in Hanover for several years. He was of the Christian faith and was raised in the Brooksburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed guns, hunting, fishing, landscaping, and collecting many things. Mike died on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 8:10 a.m. at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Click Here for Tribute Video A LOVING FAMILY Mike will be missed by his loving daughters, Susan Morris and her husband, Mark Morris of New Washington, Indiana, Judi Boldery and her husband Elston, Jr. of Madison, Indiana, Michelle and Melissa Giltner both of Garfield, New Jersey; his grandchildren who he shared a home with, Scarlett Holick, Tristen Morris, and Katelynn Morris; his sister, Constance Suzanne Paxton of Greensburg, Kentucky; his brother, Luther "Junie" Giltner, Jr. and his wife, Sheila of Sullivan, Indiana; his brother in law, Alan Wooley of North Vernon, Indiana; several other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Welby Giltner, Sr., his mother, Samantha Marjorie Thornton Giltner Wooley, his sisters, Gwendolyn Briner, Jennifer Jo Wooley, Linda Wooley, Bridget Wooley, and Bonita Geyman, and his aunt, Viola Giltner. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Skip Napier at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg, Indiana VISITATION Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORS A final salute will be conducted on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre with full military honors to follow at the Brooksburg Cemetery, by Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion and the United States Marine Corps Ceremonial Unit.
