Melvin Ray Smitley

Mr. Melvin Ray Smitley, age 56, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 24, 1955 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late, Earl Kenneth & Sylva Wanda Davis Smitley. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1973, graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He later attended classes at Ivy Tech. Melvin was united in marriage on June 2, 1978 in Madison to Donnette Webb. This union was blessed with two sons & a daughter. He had worked in maintenance with Robus Leather Products and with Century Tube in Madison. He also had worked as a clerk at Lowes in Madison and earlier in life he had worked at Hay's Body Shop. He attended the North Madison Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, collecting coins and memories of his 1965 Olds 442. Melvin died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 4:05 a.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Melvin will be sadly missed by his loving wife: Donnette L. Webb Smitley of Madison, Indiana; his loving sons: Earl Kenneth Smitley & his wife, Kristy of Lexington, Indiana, Isaac Joseph Smitley & his wife, Elena Vladykovskaya PhD of Carey, North Carolina; his loving daughter: Amanda Jo Barnhardt & her husband, Adam of Kettering, Ohio; his loving brothers: James Earl Smitley & his wife, Lisa of Lexington, Indiana, William Keith Smitley of Hanover, Indiana, David Owen Smitley & his wife, Victoria of Knightstown, Indiana; his loving sisters: Nancy Spivey & her husband, Louis of Madison, Indiana, Donna Mae Smitley of Madison, Indiana; his adoring grandchildren: Wyatt Alexander, Garrett Xavyer, Melanie Nicole & Ian Ray; several nieces, nephews, & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Kenneth & Sylva Wanda Davis Smitley; his brother, Kenneth Wayne Smitley. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Frank McGee at the North Madison Baptist Church, 1906 Orchard Street in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the North Madison Baptist Church, 1906 Orchard Street in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the North Madison Baptist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
