Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Mary Nadine Higgins Spry Pruitt Mrs. Mary Nadine Higgins Spry Pruitt, age 89, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 27, 1927 near Madison in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Pete and Addie Sturgeon Higgins. She was a resident of Jefferson County all of her life and was a 1944 graduate of Madison High School. On August 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ira Spry in Jefferson County. This happy union of 51 years was blessed with a son, Tom and a daughter, Sandra. She worked for many years at Chamber's Drug Store in Madison and for Peggy's Dress Shop. She received her bachelor's in Psychology from Florida State. Mary was united in marriage to Joseph Russell Pruitt on September 8, 2006 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Mary was a member of the Solid Rock Community Church near Deputy and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Ministries for many years. She raised miniature cattle, was active in church and enjoyed crafts and sewing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary died on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 9:15 p.m. at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana. Click Here for Funeral Service or Tribute VideoA LOVING FAMILY Mary will be missed by her loving son, Tom Spry of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughter, Sandra Spry Mertens and her husband, Chip of Charlestown, Indiana; her grandchildren, Ben Spry(Lela), Lori Brown(Bill), Brent Spry, Derek Lakeman(Ronda), Autumn Mertens(Patrick); her great grandchildren, Katie, Holly, Conner, Ira, Elizabeth and Meeka; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Addie Sturgeon Higgins, her husband of 51 years, Ira Spry, died December 30, 1993, her second husband, Joseph Russell Pruitt died April 17, 2010, her brothers, Leslie, Robert and James Higgins, her sister, Clara Rogers, her nephews, Jim, Mike and Mark Higgins. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Mike Shuler at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana.MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Solid Rock Community Church.
