Marlon Joe Lewis Obituary (1955

Mr. Marlon Joe Lewis, age 68, of Madison, Indiana formerly of South Bend entered this life on June 29, 1955 in Hammond, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Dorothy Mae Devine Thomas. He was raised in South Bend and graduated from John Adams High School. He then moved to Louisville Kentucky to attend engineering school. He was baptized at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in South Bend where his family attended. While in Louisville he went to work at Mother's Cookie Company and was seriously injured in a machine accident. This accident would seriously alter the rest of his life. With his intelligence and abilities he so wanted to be an engineer and this accident robbed him of that future. He later moved to Madison and was a resident of the Madison State Hospital. He was so loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Marlon died on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:10 a.m. at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Graveside Ceremony A LOVING FAMILY Marlon will be missed by his son, Marlon Lewis, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; his sisters, LeeDora Blanton of Elkhart, Indiana, Arunita Thomas of Mishawaka, Indiana; his brother, Foster Thomas, Jr. of Mishawaka, Indiana; his aunts, Loyce Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shirley McFarland; his nieces and his nephews, Julena Blanton, Deja Thomas and Darreon Thomas; other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mae Devine Thomas, died March 3, 2024. GRAVESIDE CEREMONY Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., by Pastor Caleb Brewster at the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
