Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Margaret Evelyn James Hess Mrs. Margaret Evelyn James Hess, age 90, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on December 12, 1927 in Perry County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Elmer and Lily Waddle James. Margaret was a 1943 graduate of Troy High School, attended Indiana University (Bloomington) at the age of 16, and graduated from Lockyear Business School in Evansville, Indiana. Margaret had an interesting and diversified life which included: three years with her parents as a member of a traveling carnival, analyst manager with the Census Bureau, representative for the House of Stuart Cosmetics, and a representative for Copper Craft Company. Margaret was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother throughout her life. After the passing of her husband in 1987, Margaret's passion turned to bridge and traveling. She visited all of the states except for Hawaii, enjoyed several cruises, made two trips to Europe and even drove the Autobahn at age 65! Margaret was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Madison bridge community for almost 30 years. She participated in several bridge tournaments held at Clifty Creek, Henryville, and Bear Creek. Known for always pushing the envelope, she will be remembered for her aggressive bidding, her quick wit, and directness. She was fortunate to have made many close friendships through her traveling and bridge playing. We were blessed with her presence for ninety years. She will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones. Margaret died on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11:57 p.m. at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, Indiana. Hess of Kingsport, Tennessee; her step daughter, Donna Kay Laflin of Hendersonville, Tennessee; her loving grandchildren, Kathryn Gullatt and her husband, Clayton of Gardner, Massachusetts, Erin Doran and her husband, Aaron of Blountville, Tennessee, Lee Myers and his wife, Amanda of New Albany, Indiana, Evan Myers of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Paige Hess of Madison, Indiana; her adoring great grandsons, Jaxon and Dominic Gullatt and Connor and Cooper Doran. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lily Waddle James, her husband, Martin Edward Hess, died April 11, 1987, her daughter, Myra Jo Myers, and her son, Michael Edward Hess. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., by Bro. George Severn at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Charlestown, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana.THE ROSARYThe Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre-Hanover Chapel.MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to Michael Hess Foundation.
