Marcelena "Marcie" Hay Dunn Obituary (1935

Mrs. Marcelena "Marcie" Hay Dunn, age 86, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on July 15, 1935 in Saluda, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Thomas and Dona Stucker Hay. She was a 1955 graduate of Madison High School in downtown Madison. On December 24, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leonard Dunn. This happy union of 26 years was blessed with a daughter, Debra Lynn. Marcelena worked for the Jay C Food Store after graduating high school. She later worked as a telephone operator and later as the supervisor with the Indiana Telephone Company for 25 years. She retired from Muscatatuck State Hospital in 2000 after 15 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Madison. At church, she served as a deaconess and on several church committees. Marcie was a member of several local organizations which included the Rebekah Lodge, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and was a mentor with the Big Sister and Big Brothers. She was also a member of the "Just Us Circle" of King's Daughters' and served as a Pink Lady volunteer in the gift shop at the hospital as well as working the information desk. She volunteered as a docent for several of the Historic Madison sites. Marcelena's greatest joy came from helping anyone in need. She loved "Kitty" her cat and walked him around the block every evening. She also enjoyed watching Mayberry on TV, going shopping and eating out with her daughter. Marcelena died on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 11:24 a.m. at her home in downtown Madison with her loving daughter at her side. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute Please Click Here to View the Funeral Service Recording A LOVING FAMILY Marcelena will be missed by her beloved daughter, Debra Kelley and her husband, Rodney of Madison, Indiana; her brother in law, Jerry Dunn and his wife, Pat of Madison, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hay, died March 14, 1997, her mother, Dona Stucker Hay, died March 9, 1991, her loving husband of 26 years, Leonard Dunn, died March 29, 1981. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Randy Crutchfield at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
