Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Majel Edwina Curtis Cook Mrs. Majel Edwina Curtis Cook, age 86, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on June 24, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the loving daughter of the late Edwin Haynes and Kathryn Frances Gardiner Curtis. She was a 1950 graduate of Aurora High School. She married Ronald E. "Ron" Cook on May 5, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Aurora, Indiana. This happy union of 53 years was blessed with two daughters, Rhonda and Kathryn and two sons Michael and Robert. She moved with her husband several times to different states with his employment living for a period in Gretna, Virginia and Bridgman, Michigan. She worked as an aide in the Michigan Public Schools for sixteen years while in Michigan. She was a faithful member of the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church and was involved with the activities there. She also did volunteer work at King's Daughters' Hospital. She enjoyed reading, walking, playing games, and loved spending time with her family and friends. Majel had resided back in Madison since 1990. Majel passed peacefully from this life to her eternal reward on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 1:39 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana surrounded by her family. Burr and her husband Bill of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, her loving sons, Michael "Mike" C. Cook of Gretna, Virginia, Robert "Bob" W. Cook and his wife Angel of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Chad Kernen and his wife, Kelli, Clint Kernen and his wife, Christi, Melissa Burr Schafer and her husband, Nate, Sarah Burr Nunley and her husband, Chad, Andrew Burr, Josh Cook, and Caleb Cook; her adoring great-grandchildren, Josh Kernen, Baley Kernen, Jack Kernen, Ella Kernen, Sam Kernen, Tyson Nunley, Gracie Nunley and Izzy Schafer; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Haynes Curtis, died June 19, 1961, her mother, Kathryn Frances Gardiner Curtis, died February 15, 1999, her brother, Haynes Curtis, her sisters, Ruth Jameson, Kathryn Powell and Jean Detmer, and her beloved husband of 53 years, Ronald "Ron" E. Cook, died October 13, 2004. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., by Dr. Kevin Crouch at the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, 2601 North Ryker's Ridge Road near Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Ryker's Ridge New Cemetery on Ryker's Ridge near Madison, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, 2601 North Ryker's Ridge Road near Madison, Indiana.
