Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Lynda Jae Day Breitweiser Mrs. Lynda Jae Day Breitweiser, age 75, of Madison, Indiana was born September 3, 1940 to Thurman Allen Day and Mable Murl Day in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended high school at Breckenridge High in Morehead, Kentucky and graduated from Anderson College with a degree in elementary education. While she was in college she traveled with a gospel trio and met and married her husband of 50 years Thomas David Breitweiser, MD. She taught grade school to help put him through medical school and the two of them moved to Madison, Indiana to raise their family. She is survived by sister Carolyn Sue Butcher, by her daughter Beth Ann Breitweiser DVM, her son David Allen Breitweiser MD, his wife Nancy Sheldrake Breitweiser MD, and 7 grandchildren: Hannah, Micah, Morgan, Jackson, Jessie, Tessa, and Blythe Breitweiser; of whom, owe a great deal of their educational, spiritual, and financial success to their mother's/grandmother's love, support, and time. She is also survived by her sisters in law, Louretta Parlette and Mary McWhirter, and several nieces and nephews. She devoted countless hours to her children, her communities' schools, churches, and governments both state and local. She taught music to 2 & 3 year olds, served on countless boards, and hosted everyone from cub scouts to senators in her home. When her husband built the 1st completely solar house in the state, she turned their historic home into a bed and breakfast. A few years later she opened a second one providing romantic weddings, honeymoons, and celebrations of all kinds with authentic antiques, Havilland china, and scenic views of the river and town. Jae had an enthusiastic love of history, especially the civil war period, and together with her friend Dotty Reindollar saved and established a National Historic Landmark when they bought an old school, uncovered its history and tied Madison and Lancaster to the Underground Railroad. Then she spent the last years of her life rediscovering the Eleutherian College's past. She even proved Thomas Jefferson's children attended. Many families still restoring their family lines are using her research, which at her death has been established with the Historical Society's help as a community resource for future generations. Jae was loved in life and she will be dearly missed and died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 10:50 p.m. at the Community Hospice in Indianapolis, Indiana.
