Lt. Col. John Jacob Patrick Usa (Ret.) Obituary (1918

Lieutenant Colonel John J. Patrick, USA (Ret) of Madison, Indiana passed away Friday, January 31, 2014. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio November 28, 1918. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, August 13, 1941 and first soloed prior to America's entry into the war. When America entered the war he returned and volunteered to become a Glider Pilot, graduating from Victorville AAF, Class 43-4, as a Flight Officer. Colonel Patrick served in the European Theater returning to the United States in 1945. He continued in the Army Reserve as an Army Aviator, served as G 2 Air on General Staff and was assigned as Intelligence Installation Officer, Transportation Branch, St. Louis, Missouri. He retired from Civil Service at Continental Army Intelligence Command Center, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina in August 1974, having previously served as intelligence analyst at the Aeronautical Chart and Information Center in St. Louis. For the past 13 years he resided in Madison, Indiana where he enjoyed world traveling, exercising, and reading. Was a member of the Caledonian Society, WW II Glider Pilot Association, a Jerusalem Pilgrim, Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge, and the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He is survived by his daughters Heather Adler, Pamela Moore, and Elizabeth Thomas. A memorial service is planned for the spring of 2014. Interment will be at Moffett Cemetery, Milton, Kentucky.
