Lt. Col. (Ret) William Clinton Goodpasture Obituary (1922

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Lieutenant Colonel (RET) William Clinton Goodpasture Lieutenant Colonel (RET) William Clinton Goodpasture, age 93, of Worthville, Kentucky formerly of Canaan, Indiana entered this life on February 1, 1922 in La Fontaine, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Merrill John and Leona Crow Goodpasture. He was raised in La Fontaine and graduated high school there in 1940. William farmed early in life and on August 5, 1942 he was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps at Miami Beach, Florida. He rose to the rate of Captain serving in the 80th Air Service Squadron during World War II and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1946 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana; he was later commissioned a Lieutenant Colonel and retired. William was united in marriage to Joyce Elita De Forest on May 12, 1945 in La Fontaine. This happy union of sixty eight years was blessed with two daughters, Martha and Karen. The young family settled in Daleville in 1948 residing there until 1973. They were members of the Unitarian Church. William worked as a foreman for Westinghouse in Muncie for ten years as a mechanical engineer and then in management with Conn Organ Company until it closed. They moved to the Canaan community in 1974 and resided there until the death of his late wife. William retired from Ohio Rod in Versailles, Indiana as a engineering manager after twelve years of service. He was a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion. William enjoyed gardening, traveling, was a gun smith, raising vegetables, a history buff, accomplished guitarist and an avid reader. He believed in furthering his knowledge and was a self-taught educated man. William died on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 3:12 a.m. at the home of his daughter in Worthville, Kentucky. Click Here for Funeral Service Video A LOVING FAMILY William will be missed by his loving daughters, Martha Meadows and her husband, Ray of Worthville, Kentucky, Karen Swift and her husband, Edgar of Trussville, Alabama; his grandchildren, Paul Drake, Robert Dilansa, Susan Roethgen, Andrew Swift and Amy Petersen; his great grandchildren, Evan & Emily Drake; Kiva Rosa and Rys Lorenza Dilansa; Samuel Wing and Sadie Rose Roethgen; Beck Elrik, Ren Shan, and Raina Gray Petersen; his sister in law, Ardith Christensen of Napa, California; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill John and Leona Crow Goodpasture, his wife of nearly sixty eight years, Joyce Elita De Forest Goodpasture, died June 10, 2013, and his brother, Richard Lowell Goodpasture. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., by Pastor Joni Schrock at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORS Full military honors will be conducted on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion with the Fort Knox Ceremonial Unit.
