Louise Margaret Waite Markel

Mrs. Louise Margaret Waite Markel, age 75 of Avon, Indiana and formerly of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on April 10, 1947 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was the loving daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Waite. Louise was raised in Oshkosh and attended school there. Louise was retired from the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County, Indiana where she served as President/CEO for many years. Louise's happiest days were spent working for the Community Foundation. She made huge strides in improving Southeastern Indiana communities and became a "go-to" for contributions from not just large organizations such as the Lilly Endowment, but from private individuals as well. When Louise was not helping in her community, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and most of all spending time with her family. She cared for her family beyond description and she will be very much missed. Louise passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2022 in Avon, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY Louise will be missed by her loving sons, Jeff Wonser and his wife Amy, Matthew Markel and his wife Sarah, and Bradford Markel; her daughter, Deborah Markel; her grandchildren, Gareth, Blythe, and James Markel; her brothers, E. Robert Waite, and Martin Waite and his wife Barb; her sister Ellen Waite Franzen and her husband Scott; and several other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Waite, her mother, Margaret Waite, her sister, Virginia Waite, and her sister in law, Barbara Waite.

CELEBRATION OF LOUISE'S LIFEThe Celebration of Louise's Life will be held Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. by Rev. Dena McPhetres at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION Friends may visit Monday from 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana.
