Celebrating The Life of Mrs. Linda Lou Sedam
Mrs. Linda Lou Shepherd Sedam, age 79, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 19, 1947 in Middletown, Ohio. Linda was the loving daughter of the late George and Ruby Shepherd. She was raised in Jennings County. She was baptized and raised in the Christian faith. She met her husband-to-be when she was 5 years old and on May 23, 1964, she became the wife of Richard ‘Dick’ Sedam in a ceremony at the Rush Branch Church in Jennings County. This happy union of 55 years was blessed with daughters Tonya and Shelli. Linda spent her life as a devoted wife, loving mom, mamaw, great-grandma and sister. She greatly enjoyed all time spent with her family throughout her life. If you saw Linda, her beloved husband Dick was probably close by, as the couple rarely spent any time apart until his death in 2019. She loved having fun and traveling and the many family trips to St. George Island, Florida stand out as fond memories for all five of her grandchildren. Sunday lunches were an important tradition at mom’s house, a gathering rarely missed by her girls. She loved watching the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer that would come to her yard to play and she taught the young great-grandchildren how to ‘pinch and throw’ old bread so that the outdoor friends would have plenty to eat. Linda retired from Cummins Engine Company. In 1993, she and Dick purchased a candy store in downtown Madison called ‘Forget Me Not Candy Store’. They spent many hours working together making candy and visiting with customers. This passionate endeavor even allowed them to work with NASA to have some of their chocolates included in a space launch during the 1990s and this was the most memorable time in her working career. Linda will be remembered in the way that she loved big and her giving spirit. Linda passed peacefully on Thursday, September 17 at 12:44 p.m. at Thornton Terrace Health Campus with her loving family by her side.
