Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Leanna Laura Wheate Shelley

Mrs. Leanna Laura Wheate Shelley, age 90, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on November 12, 1929 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Maurice and Zella Elsie Berry Wheate. She was raised and schooled in the Madison community and lived her life there with the exception of nine years in Clearwater, Florida. She was united in marriage to Harry R. Shelley on July 6, 1968 at the North United Methodist Church in Madison, Indiana. She worked as a supervisor in the Saluda School lunch-room and in the bookstore at Hanover College for 13 years. She taught herself to upholster furniture and owned and operated Annie's Upholstery for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of the North Madison Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Leanna died on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 10:30 p.m. at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY Leanna will be missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Harry R. Shelley of Madison, Indiana; her step-sons, Dale Shelley and his wife Tamara of Chesapeake, Virginia, Joseph Shelley of Reno, Nevada, Nelson Scott Shelley of Madison, Indiana; her step-daughters, Zalpha Jenkins and her husband Albert of Clarksville, Indiana, Kathy Owens and her husband Dennis of Deputy, Indiana, Tammie Shelley of New Albany, Indiana; her 10 grandchildren; her 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Wheate, her mother, Zella Elsie Berry Wheate, her brothers, Marshall Wheate and William David "Bill" Wheate, her sisters, Louise Wheate, Helen Stucker, Nellie Carol Baker, and Mary Jean Truman.

FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Frank McGee at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION Friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
