"Larry" Robert Lawrence Jones Obituary (1945

Mr. Robert Lawrence "Larry" Jones, age 78 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on June 21, 1945, in Los Angeles, California. As a new high school graduate, Larry was inducted into the United States Navy on January 14, 1964, in Oak Hill, Ohio. He rose to the rate of Seaman serving during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged on June 22, 1966, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He returned home and resided later in Louisville, Kentucky where he would meet his future wife. On June 21, 1981, he married Carolyn June Burris in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the proud dad to Chris and grandpa to Jayden, Adam, and Cody and Grampy to Paris. He worked several years in Louisville in security and in 1981 moved to the Madison community. He worked from 1998 to 2020 when he retired from Sound Hearing Solutions (Audiology Hearing Care) as a service technician. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Ministries in Madison and enjoyed NASCAR, computer games and his dog Fritzy. Larry died on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 1:05 a.m. at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute Please Click Here to View the Funeral Service Recording A LOVING FAMILY Larry will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Carolyn June Burris Jones of Madison, Indiana; his son, Chris Kelly and his wife, Lauraine of Lexington, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jayden Austin and Cody Hayes; his great granddaughter, Paris Piper; his brother in law and sister in law, Roland Burris and his wife, Sherri of Madison, Indiana; his brothers in law, Larry Burris and his companion, Dianna of Madison, Indiana, Don Abbott and his companion, Bonnie of Lexington, Indiana, Ken Abbott and his wife, Betty of Catawba, North Carolina, Jim Abbott of Lexington, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Alvino Austin, died March 2, 2023, his sister-in-law, Nancy Abbott, died April 14, 2023, and Sharon Abbott, died, Jan 13, 2001, and his mother-in-law, Fraulean Burris, died 1990. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., by Pastor Terry Glasgow at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Committal services will follow on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORSA final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
