Karen Jo "Kjo" Fields Chatham Obituary (1951

HANOVER CHAPELMrs. Karen Jo "Kjo" Fields Chatham, age 70, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on October 23, 1951 in Hazard, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Burnett Fields and Mary Rose Strunk Fields Sandlin. She spent her early years in Hazard and the family moved to Jefferson County and she graduated in 1969 from Southwestern High School. Karen was of the Christian faith and resided most of her life in the Hanover community. She was united in marriage to Freddy Chatham and this union was blessed with a son, Fredrick. She had served as a banquet server at Belterra Casino since September 24, 2002 until her sudden death. She held membership in the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 Auxiliary in Madison. Karen was an avid UK basketball fan, was known to be very artistic in painting, drawing, and sewing. She was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything herself. She was a devoted mom, loving granny, sister, aunt and friend. Karen died on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 9:51 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky after suffering a major heart attack. A LOVING FAMILY Karen will be missed by her loving son, Fredrick "Fred" Chatham and his companion, Trinady of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren, Camden Chatham, Jeter Chatham and Jadelyn Abbott; her brother, Greg Fields and his wife, Debbie of Ft Myers, Florida; her sister, Tracey Chambers and her husband, Earl of Largo, Florida; her niece and nephews, Zachary, Seth, Jesse, and Nicholas; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Burnett Fields, died July 19, 1996 and her mother, Mary Rose Strunk Fields Sandlin. PRIVATE CELEBRATION OF LIFEMemorial services will be conducted at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow at the Hanover Cemetery,on Logan Point Drive in Hanover, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Cemetery.
