Jocie Mae Parker Handlon Roberts Obituary (1952

Mrs. Jocie Mae Parker Handlon Roberts, age 70, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 2, 1952 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late James Lewis Parker and Hazel Viola Keen Parker. Raised in Canaan, Indiana, Jocie was a 1970 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. Her first marriage to Gary Ray Handlon was blessed with three children: Gerald, Eric, and Lana. She was also blessed to raise her nephew Joshua Shelley who was like another son to her. Later in life on August 31, 2001, she married Dwight B. Roberts who passed away April 1, 2009. Jocie blessed the community through her career, serving faithfully as a nurse technician for 31 years at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison before retiring in 2000. During this time, she also managed to help Brenette Jenkins at her daycare center for 6 years. Even after retirement, she worked at the Waters of Clifty Falls and the River Valley Living Center serving those in need. Jocie was of the Christian faith and had attended Mt. Pleasant Church. She enjoyed doing crossword and word searches, shopping and spending time with her three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She felt very blessed to have enjoyed the companionship of Joe Boldery who was her life partner and caretaker for 13 years. Jocie died on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 3:05 a.m. at Baptist Health Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute Please Click Here to View the Funeral Service Recording A LOVING FAMILY Jocie will be missed by her loving sons, Gerald Wayne Handlon and his wife, Pam of Milton, Kentucky, and Eric Christopher Handlon and his wife, Theresa of Madison, Indiana; her daughter, Lana Michelle Clark of Hanover, Indiana; her special nephew, Joshua Wayne Shelley of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren, Tyler Wayne Handlon of Milton, Kentucky, Alysha Nicole Handlon and her fiance, Caleb of Deputy, Indiana; her especially close granddaughter, Emily Katherine Rose Handlon of Madison, Indiana; her great-grandsons, Preston Wayne Handlon of Madison, Indiana and Jamison Thomas Briner of Madison, Indiana; her brothers, Bobby Joe "Bob" Parker and his wife, Donna of Independence, Kentucky, Charles Robert Anderson of Milton, Kentucky, and Jack Daniel Shelley of Madison, Indiana; her sisters, Crystal Ann Stephens and her husband, Mike of Carrollton, Kentucky, Kimberly Jean Hendren and her husband, Kerry of Madison, Indiana, and Brenda Sue Parks and her husband, Johnnie of Madison, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, James Lewis Parker, her mother, Hazel Viola Keen Parker, her first husband, Gary Ray Handlon, her second husband, Dwight B. Roberts, her brother, James H. Parker Herman, her sister, Doris Darlene Parker, and her infant sister who died at birth. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. by Brenette Jenkins at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre at 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
