Jeanne "Jackie" Wasson Johnson Obituary (1937

Jeanne "Jackie" Wasson Johnson, age 83, formerly of Madison, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021 in Maumelle, Arkansas. She was born in Houston, Texas on November 3, 1937 to her loving parents, John and Mary Wasson. Jackie grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Clifford "Burch" Johnson Sr. This 65-year union was blessed with two children, Cliff and Kem. Jackie was a 1956 graduate of Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Jackie moved to Madison with her family in 1968 when her husband Burch was transferred with Rotary Lift. She worked as a Remedial Reading Instructor in the English department at the Madison Junior High School from 1972-1983. While in Madison, Jackie enjoyed attending and volunteering at her children's sporting events. She was a proud member of the Madison Cubs Booster Club and was the first female to serve on the City of Madison Park Board from 1980-1984. Jackie enjoyed the friendships her family formed during the 16 years her family lived in Madison. After transferring from Madison, Jackie and Burch worked and lived in Laurel, Mississippi, Nashville, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Florida, Memphis, Tennessee and retired in Maumelle, Arkansas. While in Maumelle, Jackie enjoyed volunteering at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Academics Plus Charter School, Maumelle AARP Chapter, Maumelle Wellness Center, and the Maumelle Annual Christmas Tour of Homes. Jackie will be sadly missed by her loving family, her husband, Burch, her son Cliff and his wife Julie of Fishers, Indiana, daughter Kem Ray and her husband Allan of Maumelle, Arkansas and her five beloved grandsons, Dylan Ray, Tanner Ray, Logan Ray, Luke Johnson, and Brantley Johnson. She is also survived by her loving brother Mike Jarrell. She was preceded in death by her father John Wasson, her mother Mary Wasson Jarrell and her brother Charles Jarrell. A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Maumelle Center on the Lake in Maumelle, Arkansas. Memphis Memory Gardens in Memphis, Tennessee will be her final resting place.
