Mrs. Jannetta Smith Whitham McComas, age 91, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 24, 1924 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Albert Uley and Alice Copeland Smith. She was raised in Switzerland County and attended school there. On July 23, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ruby G. Whitham in Greensburg, Indiana. This happy union of thirty one years was blessed with four daughters, Janice, Thelma, Pauline and Edna and a son, Wilbur. Ruby later died on February 2, 1973. Jannetta had resided in the Dupont Community since 1950. She was employed with Reliance Electric in Madison as an assembler, retiring after 27 years of service.She was later united in marriage to Harold R. McComas on August 24, 1974 and they enjoyed seven years of marriage together until his death on December 2, 1981. After retirement she worked at Mike's Grill for several years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Hall's Ridge near Canaan, Indiana. Jannetta enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling and being with her family. Jannetta died on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana. Click Here for Funeral Service or Tribute Video A LOVING FAMILY Jannetta will be missed by her loving daughters, Janice Payton and her husband, Carl of North Vernon, Indiana, Thelma Wade and her husband, Charles "Red" of Seymour, Indiana, Pauline Stephens and her husband, Don of North Vernon, Indiana; her loving son, Wilbur Whitham of Madison, Indiana; her loving sisters, Florence Wilson Haskell of Vevay, Indiana, Martha Jean "Jeannie" Wentworth and her husband, Morris "Buddy" of Bedford, Kentucky; her loving brother, Roy Lee Smith and his wife, Marilyn of Cross Plains, Indiana; 12-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 2-great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Uley Smith, her mother, Alice Copeland Smith, her beloved husband of thirty three years, Ruby G. Whitham, died February 1, 1973, her second husband, Harold R. McComas, died December 2, 1981, her daughter, Edna Gabbard, died April 13, 2009, her brothers, Robert P. Smith, died November 24, 1997; Morgan Smith died in 1987; Raymond Smith died in 1975; James E. Smith died in 1992, her sister, Lottie Webster, died May 10, 2014, her companion, Charles R. Long, Sr. died November 3, 2009. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Thomas Mattingly at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Sunday from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
