James Edward "Junie" Alexander, Jr. Obituary (1933

Let Us Pause to Honor the Memories of Mr. James Edward "Junie" and Eleanor Crozier "Sissy" Alexander Mr. James Edward "Junie" Alexander, Jr., age 87, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on August 22, 1933 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Agnes Virginia Craig Alexander Crawford, and step-father, William Henry Crawford and father, James Edward "Eddie" Alexander. He was a 1951 graduate of Madison High School in downtown Madison. Junie began his military career with the Indiana National Guard serving for three years during high school before he was inducted into the United States Navy on July 3, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Aviation Specialist 3rd Class during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 22, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Louisville. On May 26th, 1955 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Crozier at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison. This happy union was blessed with daughters, Paula Kimm and Lisa Kaye, and sons, James Kurt and William Kevin. He worked as an internal auditor for Public Service Indiana for thirty-three years before retiring. He was a lifelong resident of the Madison community and was instrumental in starting the 911 system in Madison. He was a member of the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524, the Madison VFW Post No. 1969, and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion. Pops or Junie was what he was often referred to by his family and friends. He enjoyed music, reading, and being with his family. They enjoyed over 65 years of marriage together until Junie died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 6:00 a.m. at the Waters of Dillsboro in Dillsboro, Indiana with his Eleanor at his side. Eleanor Crozier "Sissy" Alexander entered this life on February 9, 1934 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of James Edward and Martha Anna McKinney Crozier. She was a 1951 graduate of Madison High School in downtown Madison and attended Indianapolis Business College for a year. She was united in marriage to James Edward Alexander, Jr. on May 26th, 1955 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in downtown Madison. This happy union was blessed with daughters, Paula Kimm and Lisa Kaye, and sons James Kurt and William Kevin. She was a lifelong resident of the Madison community and had worked at the State House in Indianapolis and Rotary Lift in Madison. She enjoyed cooking and being a docent for the Historic Madison, Inc. She was a member of the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524, and had attended Trinity United Methodist Church. MawMaw or Sissy was what she was often referred to by her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and dearly enjoyed her family. Eleanor died suddenly on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 2:49 p.m. at the emergency room at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Funeral Service Recording A LOVING FAMILY Junie and Sissy will be missed by their sons, James Kurt Alexander and his wife Susan of Knoxville, Tennessee, William Kevin Alexander and his wife, Paula of Santa Claus, Indiana; their daughter, Lisa Kaye Abplanalp and her husband, Larry of Madison, Indiana; their grandchildren, Kristafer Abplanalp (Aleve), Wesley Abplanalp (Sarah), Katie Schneider (David), James Connor Alexander (Derek Phillips), Shanna Alexander, and Lauren Bly (Clinton); their great grandchildren, Sproston Abplanalp, Kayelee Schneider, Kauai Schneider, Otis Sauter, and Robin Bly; his sister-in-law and her sister, Susie Crozier Ewing and her husband, Robert of Jacksonville, Florida; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and her father-in-law, James Edward Alexander, his mother and her mother-in-law, Agnes Virginia Craig Alexander Crawford, his step-father and her step-father-in-law, William Henry Crawford, their infant daughter, Paula Kimm Alexander, their infant grandson, Joseph Alexander, and his half-brother and her half-brother-in-law, Marvin Alexander; her father and his father-in-law, James Edward Crozier; her mother and his mother-in-law, Martha Anna McKinney Crozier; her sister and his sister-in-law, Minerva Crozier Mahoney. PUBLIC GRAVESIDE CEREMONY Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., by Brother Robby King at the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery,600 West Fifth Street in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORS A final salute with military honors will be conducted for Junie's service to his country by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion at the graveside.
