Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Hattie Elizabeth Ellsworth Jacobs Gross Mrs. Hattie Elizabeth Ellsworth Jacobs Gross, age 93, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on March 27, 1922 in Harrisburg, New York. She resided in an orphanage in Watertown, New York with her two brothers until the age of 17, when she was adopted by Harvey and Alice Butler Ellsworth. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and later the New York School of Nursing. Hattie was first united in marriage to Estill Jacobs and this union was blessed with five daughters and three sons. On June 27, 1966 she was united in marriage to Norman C. Gross at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Sonny Hayes. They shared 42 years of marriage together until his death on April 30, 2008. Hattie worked as a caregiver and in the cafeteria at the Madison State Hospital for over 25 years. She attended the Bible Baptist Temple in Lancaster, Indiana for many years. Hattie enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and being with her family. Hattie died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 2:05 p.m. at the Hickory Creek of Madison in Madison, Indiana. Click Here for Funeral Service or Tribute VideoA LOVING FAMILY Hattie will be missed by her loving daughters, Kathy Brierly of Madison, Indiana, Diana Kay Hasaker and her husband, Stuart of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Frances Baxter and her husband, Danny of Alva, Florida; her loving granddaughters, Jackie Stites Kramer, Charley Stites Foley, Missy Stites Keeley; her adoring great grandchildren, Bryan Keeley, Maddie Keeley, Tyler Kramer, Meaghan Kramer, Austin Kramer, Emma Foley and Ellie Foley; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Alice Butler Ellsworth, her husband of 42 years, Norman C. Gross, died April 30, 2008, her daughters, Jeannie Ramsey and Brenda Tyrell, her sons, Merritt, Doug and Joe Jacobs, her grandson, Brian Stites, died June 22, 1996. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Danny Day and Pastor Leon Turner at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky VISITATION Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Stites Memorial Scholarship.
