Granville "Jocko" E. Wiley, Jr. Obituary (1959

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Granville E. "Jocko" Wiley, Jr. Mr. Granville E. "Jocko" Wiley, Jr., age 59, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on October 26, 1959 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Granville E. Sr. and Cora Ann McKeand Wiley. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1978 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He enjoyed FFA and 4-H while in high school. He began employment with the Jefferson County Highway Department right out of high school and worked as a highway man until his sudden death. Jocko also served as a Senior Primary Reserve Officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office from 1993-2010. From 2011 to current he served as a Special Deputy of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He had previously worked as a dispatcher with the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department in Vevay. Jocko was a faithful member of the Manville Christian Church in Manville. He was an avid reader, loved history, was a comedian of sorts, a great socializer, loved his family, and there was no other truck than a Ford truck in his eyes. Jocko was a man that was larger than life, loved everyone and never met a stranger. Jocko will always be remembered for his name and for being the "Highway Man". Jocko passed from this life on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 11:02 a.m. at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Click Here for Tribute VideoA LOVING FAMILY Jocko will be missed by his loving sisters, Christy Roberts and her husband, Bobby of Madison, Indiana; Connie Lipps of Madison, Indiana; his niece, Tonya Moore Vester and her husband, Jeff of Madison, Indiana; his nephew, Luke Lipps of Arlington, Virginia; his great nephews and great niece, Jacob Vester, Joseph Vester, and Courtney Sellers; his uncles and aunts, Danny and Noreen McKeand of Madison, Indiana and Bonnie Stockdale of New Albany, Indiana; his companion, Charity Kiser-Sullivan of Madison, Indiana; his fellow highway men with the Jefferson County Highway Department and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Granville E. Wiley, Sr., died September 12, 2014, his mother, Cora Ann McKeand Wiley, died December 31, 2002, his uncles and aunts, Wayne and Connie Wiley, LeRoy Stockdale, Ernest Van, Jr. and Etta McKeand, and his grandparents, Ernest Van, Sr., and Pearl Sparks McKeand. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., by Bro. George Severn at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree in Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Carmel Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Manville Christian Church Youth Group.
