"Fezz" Erwin William Kopp Obituary (1940

Mr. Erwin "Fezz" William Kopp, age 81, of Paris Crossing, Indiana entered this life on September 10, 1940 in Waterloo, Illinois. He was the son of the late Emil Charles and Edna C. Matzenbacher Kopp. He was raised in Waterloo and graduated high school there. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 3, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. He rose to the rate of Sergeant serving in the Command Operations Company 50th Signal Battalion during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on June 1, 1962 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina receiving the Parachutist Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He remained in the Reserves until being discharged on February 2, 1965. In 1963, Fezz was united in marriage to Edith Ellen Pearson. This union of 43 years settled in Paris Crossing in 1969. Fezz enjoyed farming for the rest of his life raising Hereford cattle. He was a good neighbor and friend and enjoyed playing cards and socializing. Fezz died on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 12:05 p.m. at his home in Paris Crossing, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute Please Click Here to View the Funeral Service Recording A LOVING FAMILY Fezz will be missed by his sister in law, Delores Kopp of Waterloo, Illinois; his nephews, Eric Kopp, Mark Kopp and his wife, Rachel; his nieces, Tania Kopp Barbeau and her husband, Terry, Natalie Kopp; his great nephews and great nieces, Joseph, Tyler and Rebecca Barbeau; Steven and Bailey Kopp; his great great nephews and great great nieces, Harley and Jaxson Barbeau; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Charles Kopp, died November 23, 1972, his mother, Edna C. Matzenbacher Kopp, died January 7, 1995, his wife of 43 years, Edith Ellen Pearson Ellis White Kopp, died July 27, 2006, and his brother, Earl L. Kopp, died June 5, 2019. GRAVESIDE CEREMONY Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. (Indiana Time) at the Conrad Kohlmer Memorial Cemetery, 434 Bellefontaine Drive in Waterloo, Illinois. VISITATION Friends may visit Friday, January 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
