Everett "Babe" Jackson Williams Obituary (1926

Mr. Everett "Babe" Jackson Williams, age 97 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on December 25, 1926 in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Isaiah Jerry and Eliza Sarah Meadows Williams. He was raised and schooled in Trimble County. Babe was inducted into the United States Army on January 4, 1946 during World War II and served in the 393rd Engineers until being honorably discharged on March 4, 1947. While serving in the United States Army, he was extremely proud to have been a member of the honor guard for the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". He married Esther Ruth "Tootsie" Baylor in 1947 and was blessed with two daughters and two sons. He worked early in life at the Jefferson Proving Grounds on the gun crew for three years. He later worked as a shore tanker-man at Charter Chemical Company in Houston, Texas, retiring after 32 years. He was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion and was baptized and a member of the Norfolk Church in Trimble County. Babe loved to play cards with his friends at the American Legion as well as sitting down at the Ohio River to converse with friends and passer-byers. He never met a stranger and was awaiting the birth of his second great great grandchild. Babe died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 3:45 p.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana. Williams of Hanover, Indiana; his grandchildren, Keri JoAnn (Travis), Kelly (Darby), Derek (Charity), Vicky (Louis), Jeanine (Tim), Josh (Jan), Oliver (Reagan) and the grandson he helped raise, Brady (Amber); his 26 great-grandchildren; his one great great grandchild; his sisters, Phyllis Price and her husband Richard of Pennsylvania, and Joann Goodin and her husband, Howard of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Isaiah Jerry Williams, died October 29, 2002, his mother, Eliza Sarah Meadows Williams, died March 30, 1993, his brothers, James Buford "Boo" Williams, died November 22, 2014, Raymond, D. Williams, died March 21, 2018 and Russell Williams, died October 13, 1996, his sisters, Rachel Williams Sage Dicus, died August 2, 1992 and Ola Juanita Williams Brooks, died March 7, 2015, his daughter, Vicki Jean Williams Bruner, died January 6, 1976, his son, Brady Lee Williams, died February 11, 1989, his daughter, Valerie Lynn Johnson, died November 22, 2022 and his son-in-law, John Johnson; the mother of his children, Esther Ruth "Tootsie" Baylor Williams Green, died September 6, 2009. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., by Bro. Aaron Snelling at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Cemetery near Hanover, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
