Evangeline M. "Vangie" Snyder Greves Obituary (1937

Let Us Pause to Honor the Memories of Ron and Vangie Greves Mr. Ronald "Ron" Eugene Greves, age 83, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on July 13,1937 in Huntington, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Kenneth H. and Vera Josephine Wheeldon Greves. He was united in marriage on September 16, 1955 in Bedford, Indiana to Evangeline May Snyder. This happy union of 65 years was blessed with a daughter, Debbie, and two sons, Greg and Randy. The family moved from Bedford, Indiana to Madison in 1963. Ron first managed Bill's Auto before he and Vangie opened Greves TV and Appliance Inc. in downtown Madison in 1970 with Ron serving as president and Vangie as vice president and treasurer. In 2005, the couple retired and sold their successful business, a downtown mainstay, to their son Randy and his wife Mary. Very civic minded, Ron gladly shared his time, business expertise and leadership skills to many area organizations and public boards. He served as president of the Madison Chamber of Commerce, president of the Madison Booster Club, and member of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Merit Board for over 20 years. In addition, he was a charter member, board member, and elder of the River Valley Community Church. Ron will be remembered as an amazing husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, encourager, supporter, businessman, prayer warrior, and selfless giver, but most of all for his love of Jesus. Ron passed from this life on Friday, January 1, 2021, at 8:57 a.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Evangeline May "Vangie" Snyder Greves, age 83, of Hanover, Indiana and formerly of Madison entered this life on May 3, 1937 in Marion, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Dr. Melvin Harold and Eloise Mary Brown Snyder. She was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene "Ron" Greves on September 16, 1955 in Bedford, Indiana. This happy union of 65 years was blessed with a daughter, Debbie, and two sons, Greg and Randy. The family moved to Madison in 1963 from Bedford, Indiana. Vangie's first business role in Madison involved managing the credit department of Spiegel's. In 1970, she and Ron opened Greves TV and Appliances, Inc. with Vangie serving as vice president and treasurer until retiring in 2005. In addition to her responsibilities and leadership contribution in the family business, she also shared her skills as treasurer and bookkeeper for many years at the First Assembly of God Church in Madison and then for River Valley Community Church in Madison until retiring in 2018. Vangie enjoyed helping other local churches, as well, establish and maintain their financial systems. A strong woman of God, she was a faithful servant and member of the River Valley Community Church. Vangie's greatest joys in life entailed loving Jesus, bonding with people and spending time with family. So many attributes exude Vangie, from being an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, selfless giving person, friend, business woman, interior decorator, encourager, to servant of God. Vangie passed from this life and joined her beloved husband at the feet of Jesus on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 11:35 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father and her father-in-law, Kenneth H. Greves died July 16, 1999, his mother and her mother-in-law, Vera Josephine Wheeldon Greves, died November 28, 2006, their son, Gregory Alan "Greg" Greves, died May 8, 2004, her father and his father-in-law and her mother and his mother-in-law, Melvin Snyder, died April 4, 1984 and Eloise Snyder, died June 12, 2000, her brothers and his brothers-in-law, Mark Snyder and David Snyder, her sister and his sister-in-law, Mary Smith, died January 22, 2021. CELEBRATION OF LIVES WELL LIVED Ron and Vangie will be remembered in a ceremony honoring their lives on Monday, January 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Shane Brunner, Pastor Cleddie Keith, and Denny Taylor at the North Madison Christian Church, 1400 East State Road 62 in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Sunday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the River Valley Community Church, 2535 Clifty Drive in Madison, Indiana and Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the North Madison Christian Church, 1400 East State Road 62 in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ron and Vangie to the River Valley Community Church.
