Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mrs. Ellogene "Gene" Brindley Barnes Mrs. Ellogene "Gene" Brindley Barnes, age 85, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on November 8, 1932 in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Casper Ellsworth and Ruby Hazel Harper Brindley. She was raised in Switzerland County and resided in Madison since 1954. She married Delbert Lee Barnes on December 21, 1956 in Madison, Indiana. This happy union of fifty-eight years was blessed with a son, Gary Joe. She worked at the US Shoe Corporation for forty-three years before retiring in 1995. She was of the Christian faith, enjoyed playing cards, riding the motorcycle with her son, watching John Wayne and Texas Walker Ranger shows and being with her family. Gene died on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 10:20 a.m. at the Hickory Creek of Madison in Madison, Indiana. Click Here for Tribute or Funeral Service Video A LOVING FAMILY Ellogene will be missed by her loving son, Gary Joe Barnes of Madison, Indiana; her granddaughters, Cari Jo Barnes, Tracy L. Turner and her husband Rob; her great-grandchildren, Haley Turner and Brindley Herp; her great great granddaughter, Harper Lane Liter; her sister in law, Merdell Adler of Madison, Indiana; her nieces and nephews, Letiscia Wilson, Danny Adler, Charles Adler, Larry Eden, Tom Eden, Troy Eden, Gilberta "Tunni" Theonis; several great nieces, great nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Casper Ellsworth Brindley, died March 1976, her mother, Ruby Hazel Harper Brindley, died July 11, 1990, her brother, Marion "Punk" Brindley, died January 30, 1999, her sisters, Mildred A. Copeland and Marvel Eden, her nephews, Steve and Kenneth Copeland and Tim Eden, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Delbert "Big D." Lee Barnes, died December 26, 2014. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., by Rev. Wayne Mahoney at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
