Let Us Pause to Honor the Memory of
Mr. Edward P. Eberth, MD
Dr. Eberth, age 64 of Madison, entered this life on April 13, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of the late Edmund & Virginia Palmer Eberth. He was raised in Hamilton, Ohio and was a 1964 graduate of Taft High School. He then began his pre-med program at Western Kentucky University. Ed married his high school sweetheart, Marianne Gillespie on September 3, 1968 in Hamilton, Ohio. Together they moved to Virginia where he graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. He took his medical internship and residency in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at the IUPUI Medical Center in Indianapolis from 1973-1977. During this time, Ed and Marianne were blessed with a son and two daughters to brighten their home. Dr. Ed began his career in anesthesia at Winona Hospital in Indianapolis. In 1979, the Eberth family moved south to the small, quiet town of Madison to begin Little King Farm, Inc. Soon after their move to Madison, Dr. Eberth and Marianne added their 4th child to the family. As president and lead anesthesiologist of Physician Services Inc., Dr. Ed (as he preferred to be called) and his staff joined Kings Daughters Hospital, opening the doors to encourage more specialists to move to the area and offer more to the community. He was head of the Anesthesia Department of KDH until 1997. He then worked as an anesthesiologist at St. Vincent Jennings County Hospital for five years. In 2004, he saw a need for a specialized medical treatment center and began Advanced Care Centers, LLC. Up to his death, he was the President and practicing physician for ACC with the corporate office in Madison and clinic in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Dr. Ed and Marianne were also owners of E & M Construction Co. and Natural Trade Company - an ATF licensed import and export company that allowed them to do business all around the world. Ed was also the past President and Director of the American Miniature Horse Association in which he helped to formulate the bylaws of the association. He was a member of the American Medical Association, National Rifle Association, Republican Party, Western Kentucky University Alumni, Georgetown University Alumni, Church of the Open Air and the Athletic Hall of Fame in Hamilton Ohio. After his daily doctor duties, Ed's favorite past time was being the farm hand. Little King Farm is one of the leading miniature horse farms in the world and he spent most of his time building barns and houses, woodworking, weed killing and saving lives of all kinds with his medical expertise, let alone enjoying God's gifts of nature and animals and sharing it all with his family. Dr. Ed also enjoyed collecting antiques, artwork, guns and jewelry, fishing, reading, politics, and reliving his years of being a professional tennis player. Dr. Eberth had a strong work ethic and instilled that in his children. He loved to share and teach all he knew to anyone who would listen or would ask for help and advice. Due to his death, the American Miniature Horse Registry on Friday, September 17th, is honoring him with a trophy awarded to the 2010 recipient of the National Grand Champion Stallion Award.
