"Eddie" Charles Edward Brooks, Jr. Obituary (1943

Mr. Charles Edward "Eddie" Brooks, Jr., age 79, of Madison, Indiana and formerly of Dupont entered this life on February 7, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Charles Edward, Sr. and Irene Elizabeth Simmons Brooks. He was raised in Jefferson County and attended Southwestern High School, where he participated in FFA and community 4-H. He was raised in the Methodist faith and lived the majority of his life in the Dupont community. Eddie was united in marriage to Deborah Jeanette Bolton on January 19, 1964 at the Hanover United Methodist Church. This happy union of 58 years was blessed with sons, Murel Eugene and Christopher, and a daughter, Tamaira Charlene. He loved farming, raising cattle and being involved with anything on his farm. He worked for Rotary Lift for 50 years as an inspector and a shipping clerk. He also had worked for Pearl Packing Company and Morrow Tobacco Warehouse, plus drove a semi. If the Dupont Fire House had a fish fry, Eddie was definitely there. Everyone who met Eddie loved him. He always had a smile to share and enjoyed giving his friends nicknames. He found joy in every day, never complained, never met a stranger and could repair most anything. When it came to broken farm equipment, he knew the answer for most repairs. There is comfort in knowing he is in heaven with Jesus and with his beloved sons. We know he is happy with this reunion and we will all miss him forever. Eddie died on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 1:20 p.m. at the home of his daughter in Madison, Indiana. Large Brooks Dudley of Madison, Indiana; his loving grandchildren, Brad Rea (Ashley), Eddie R. Brooks (Jorrica), Candace S. Brooks Gil (Julio), and Crystal D. Brooks; his loving great grandchildren, Terrington Brooks, Julianna Gil, Julio Christopher Gil, and Jazlyn Gil; his sisters, Marilyn Mathews of Hanover, Indiana, Shirley Reed of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Wehner and her husband, Larry of Madison, Indiana; his brother, James D. Brooks of Lexington, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Brooks, Sr., died September 10, 1979, his mother, Irene Elizabeth Simmons Brooks, died January 27, 1995, his son, Murel Eugene Brooks, died May 14, 1979, and his son, Christopher D. Brooks, died May 21, 2006. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., by Pastor Troy Hedges at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison, Indiana.
